Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone has played with a mag fed 7-08AI? I have a shortened 260AI that feeds from the mag okay but i was wondering if anyone has had any different opinions on them.

Fixed or detachable magazine, might make a difference.
My old Ruger M77 257AI fed perfectly from the internal magazine.

Most likely detachable, it should make it easier to tune.
6mmbr is easy to make work. Greg lent me the mag in the video a few years ago to take some measurements.

Re: Mag Feeding 7-08AI
I've got a push feed Winchester Model 70 long action in 7mm-08 Ackley.
It will feed from the internal, blind box magazine if they are stacked correctly and positioned right at the back of the magazine. It also feeds from the wooden stock with the 2 piece hinged floor plate, which shouldn't be any different as the mag box is the same and presents the round the same. Position in the mag is important for mine otherwise the bolt will skate over the round and not pick it up.
But the important information is yes, it feeds fine in this set up. They seem to slide into the chamber just fine from the magazine and don't hang up. I don't recall having any jams or miss feeds and I've shot a bit of field rifle rapid fire with it and it all works pretty good.
Hope it helps.
Any reason in particular you are going for the Ackley? Its doesn't gain bugger all difference in velocity in this cartridge. Good brass life though and the cases don't grow.

Thanks for the info.
I made the decision to go with a regular 7-08. The main reason was I'm thinking about a shorter barrel so the extra capacity isn't worth the effort of forming.

Pretty wise choice in my mind. The Ackley is barely worth the bother. 7-08 works just fine on its own.

I was playign with a few different projies and settled on the 153gr copperhead. With the bearing surface at the base of the neck there is about 2mm clearance in the mag so there is room to chase the throat if it goes that way. The 162's and 68's all had the bearing surface below the neck so they were ruled out.

What OAL did you end up with on the Copperheads Seddo? Interested to know if they will fit in a standard Rem mag box (2.820" max).

Re: Mag Feeding 7-08AI
i didn't write down the length but AI mag is about 2.850 and there was room to move so 2.830 should be a snug fit.
