Guys,
Results in the competition section. Was the windiest day I have ever shot in Townsville. At times it was nearly as strong as the Saturday of Narromine 2 years ago when we abandoned shooting for the day. Hard work just keeping them on the paper, let alone shooting a group.

Re: Townsville 1000yd and 500m
hi jeff
yep, see what you mean, hard work for all concerned !!!
did you get rain with the winds as well?
I assumed the weather prediction would have prevented you from shooting either match.
down here, no rain to speak of, from end of January until about 10 days ago, had roughly 2 inches yesterday and today which I realise would just be a light dew up north
I will get the Postals updated asap.
also, ExtraVision, Optimus Projectiles and GunPro have all generously offered and are in the process of again, providing a few goodies for the SCC.
good to see the youngsters back shooting LRBR,( donnie and trev) and that trev has got his vision back on track.
see you all in a few weeks.
cheers

Hi Dave,
No rain here, they keep promising, but, just like a politician, never deliver. We are in severe water restrictions in Townsville, after 2 failed wet seasons in a row. We just had heaps of really twitchy, really strong south westerly wind, this is somewhat unusual, but since it was the last shoot before Narromine, probably good practice, although your wind is probably more constant. Best thing about today was it was so windy we didn't get much mirage. I could see holes at 1000 yds with the NF.
I shot the Maddco barrel today, with Sierra 210 SMK. Finally seem to have a load that works ok. Given the conditions, I was very pleased with a 7" group.
Trev and I are all sorted for the trip. Got the new work vehicle to use, complete with skippy bouncer this time, accomodations booked, wives told off, guns tamed, sort of.

Very odd. I was at the other range and not a breeze to be had till noon. Overcast dead calm perfect sighting conditions for the bambie slayers there getting their accreditation.
When it finally did blow at the golf course later in the arvo it was from the north west. WTF is that? Never seen that wind this time of year and only a handful of times in the last 25 years. It is my belief that all the displaced Arabs shifting their flea ridden carcasses to the southern hemisphere has caused the earths axis to tilt and give us fucked up weather. 4.7 million of the fuckers moving around the planet are fucking up my club selection on the front nine. Who do we vote for to fix this disaster? Pauline maybe? Not happy Jan.

Nice to see ExtraVision, Optimus Projectiles and GunPro back again. There's been some good sponsorship there over time.
And as for Tony's post........

Guys,
Great to see all the Southern Cross sponsors back up. They do a great job and we should support them whenever possible. We should also acknowledge the great job Dave Goodridge has done over the years in keeping it all together. Hope your feeling better Dave, we'll see you in a couple of weeks I hope.
Tony, the reason you didn't get wind is that it was going so fast that little range you were at was in a dead zone. It near drove poor Don mad, every time he went up to the butts, he had to stand one or two windflags back up. He got so frustrated he left one of them down until after we had lunch, so he'd only have to pick it up then. It even blew a whole target board right out of the frame.
