Re: been to the range.
Yeah and was good having someone keep me awake and navigate gravel roads trying to find a rifle range that was a bit out of the way too, cheers mate. You can give me a flogging when we head up to the NW shoot later in the year.

Re: been to the range.
looks like a ripper range...
glad the weekend went well.
our 303 shoot went pretty well,15 old bangers and a few scoped guns.
i didnt shoot but did a couple turns on the butts.
there was some decent scores produced.
couldnt tell what they were sorry, but every body had a heap of fun.

No match primers over standard. I will from now on when I run out of Standards for my hunting rifles use all match primers only.

Ah ok. Primer testing is something that needs to be done on your loads. With a chronograph and a target to shoot at so you can look at group shape and size.

Well I can say that my omark groups better with them than with standard ones so does my 223. Oh well still have a couple of hundred to go through in both large and small.

Re: been to the range.
Use em up in the varmint guns mate. I would love to be able to try some of the russian primers- PMC, tula or what ever they are sold as these days. But CCI BR2's and 450's are my target choice at the moment, with fed gold match used for the 223

Re: been to the range.
Murons they are called here Brad. My AI swede def prefers them and 2213sc compared to the cci br2s and 2217 i had run to start with.
I got my first lot from nsw rifle association store.
Oh and well done in the prize shoot win.

Re: been to the range.
Yeah that is what is happening mate get used in my 223 go to gun for a lot around here.
shot 600 yards yesterday 1st stage a very disappointing 52.1, wind flicking from straight across to angling up range. Still working out new elevation setting's after getting new rings.
Second stage better 55.2 but still a bit disappointed, but at least I have my 600 yard setting now.

Re: been to the range.
800 yrd up here today.
my omark is having issues
i line up a good shot,clear picture,shot feels good-looks good...
4 at 11o'clock
oh well,do it again...
line it up,clear picture,shot feels good,looks good..
4 at 5 o'clock ?????
and on it went for the whole second string....
first string wasnt too bad,got 41.3
two weeks ago it was the same thing..
during last week,i got the shits with the barrel not coming as clean as i think a new barrel should...
and after consulting the club mentor,i gave it a real good scrub with a bore brush [blue plastic one] and autosol followed by a soak and clean with sweets.
autosol scrub twice and with sweets 3 times.
when i put it away i push an old bore mop with a real light coat of machine oil threw it.
yesterday i patched that out and it looked like it was covered in powder soot.
just now ive been cleaning it,after todays shoot, the throat was tight and i am still getting copper after the 2nd soak then patch out with sweets...
i dont know why this damn barrel is staying so dirty....
is this a normal thing ?
any ideas ? i dont want to scrub this bore into oblivion....
should i get a new barrel ?

Re: been to the range.
Possibly it was one of the original type omark barrels if its on an omark action. Is there an adaptor on the action or does the barrel go straight on?
I would always suggest if your target shooting to start with fresh and quality name brand gear. I use maddco barrels in my stuff and they perform well. Maybe a little of the soft side for barrels but they work. You could send the action to them in Brissy and get them to fit a barrel to suit. 30 inch palma profile in a 12 twist 308. Could just about bet that 46.2gr 2208 would be your load in the small rifle primer brass and a 155gr bullet.
