Re: been to the range.
Thanks guys. Sean what range is that again?
It began life as a savage lrpv 22.250. Sold barrel and stock. Has a shilen ratchet 1 in 8 heavy palma finished just under 30 inches no nut and a wayne young stock. Old school fixed 16x scope leupy. Change in powder and primer combo seems to have been the ticket.

Re: been to the range.
Good luck for 1000 mate I still have yet to have the opportunity to pop my 1000 yard cherry Might just have to set up a steel plate and see if I can't ring some steel. Problem have to wait till we get rid of some bloody lambs and cattle so I have a clear paddock to shoot into.

Re: been to the range.
you could do an over night trip to here, but you wont be fresh for shootin
went down to the range this morning to sight in my central No.4 sights [finally got the screws for the elevation and windage plates]
while i was there i set up targets for the different ranges and went threw the front apertures and hole sizes in the rear sights.
working out what gave the best picture at either end of the barrel.
took a couple hrs but i think i might have the right combo for each.
time will tell...
lookin forward to tomorrows burned powder...

Re: been to the range.
Would love a trip north but would not be popular on the weekend of my eldest 10th birthday lol.
Bathurst does get all seasons and types of weather. Maybe a trip to Bathurst for a shoot. When loneRider is down south.

Re: been to the range.
What is your maximum score up there cause you guys have how many scoring shot's Lonerider. We have 10 to count each stage.
Stinkitup if you come down when it cools down it gets a lot easier just a normal steady cross wing to contend with, minus the mirage going left to right right to left and all over the place Thank god it is starting to cool down. My scores this summer have not been good at all
Where are you again Stinkitup.

Re: been to the range.
for us true rifle [TR] shooters, its 2 sighters and 10 scorers first range
then 2 sighters and 11 scorers for the second.highest score is a V
for those blind buggers who need a scope its the same amount of shots but the highest is a super [X]

Re: been to the range.
So you guys have 21 scoring shot's to our 20 cause we are 2 and 10 on both stages. Wonder where that comes from, cause that isn't in for the Queens events or any of the OPM's I've been too.

Re: been to the range.
Fro what I can remember from the late 1950's .303 days when one went to the range ammo was bought from the club. The defence force subsidised the clubs with ammo. as all ranges were defence controlled. The ammo was purchased in packets of 25 and no ammo could be taken home. Thus all was used at the range on the day as follows, 2x sighters and 10 shots, then 2x sighters then 11 shots, thus using the whole packet.
I am fairly sure this is correct but I may be wrong.
Trevor.
