FWB124 for sale
Hi Folks.
Just in case there is a connoisseur amongst our forum members, I thought I would post this.....
http://www.buyusedguns.com.au/feinwerkb ... -1669.html
It's not mine, I still love mine, and it is staying in my safe. But I just happened across this one for sale. I reckon that it's worth a look if you are into iconic air rifles.
cheers, curan

Re: FWB124 for sale
I actually thought about that one a couple of days ago. The seller can't be too far from me as he's using Clayton Firearms for his transfer. But alas ............. i don't need another pneumatic.

Not too bad a price considering what they go for in the US.

Re: FWB124 for sale
Sold/bought. Just need a PTA (2 weeks, 3 weeks who knows when) and I'll find out what all the fuss is about.
Don't have a break barrel. Lewis told me many years ago it is one of if not the best.

It can cuddle up to its stable mate the 300S but I doubt will be its equal; just a bit more punch???
Lewis do you still have some decent piston washers hanging about spare for 124s and whatever else i will need. It is a 1980/1981 vintage.
Anyone else able to give me advice or a hand? ..........
My eye op went OK just needs a couple of weeks to settle in I'm told. So I should be close to legal and able to pick it up from my mate at Hunting Haven, Uralla by then.
Also start testing the Jet Stars
... Best regards to all, Harry.

More like a bit more "kick" than punch Harry. You'll see what I mean when you shoot it.......Yrrah wrote:Sold/bought. Just need a PTA (2 weeks, 3 weeks who knows when) and I'll find out what all the fuss is about.

...........

In the world of break barrels, they are a mansize bit of kit. Mine is the second longest rifle in my gunsafe.

Re: FWB124 for sale
They are pretty simple inside, but there are a couple of traps for the unwary when stripping and reassembling.
The trigger block / endcap is held in by one bolt - this bolt is harder than the trigger block. The trigger block can be cross threaded during reassembly so lining up the bolt hole and threading the bolt all the way in by hand, before tightening with a spanner is vital.
Secondly, the rear safety slide can be tricky. A block of wood is needed to prevent squashing the safety tab in the spring compressor. There is also a small coil spring under the safety slide which can be easily lost.
As you back the trigger block and safety slide out, secure the lot together with the wire or a zip tie to prevent this.
A spring compressor is vital - the standard spring is 13" long with lots of preload.
This kit uses a shorter but heavier spring for easier installation.

I've tuned my .22 cal 127 and it's slick and smooth and giving about 13ft/lbs.

Re: FWB124 for sale
I have noted all that with thanks. I also checked out the reference.
First thing will be to check if the seals are gone and if so which of those available to get in the short or long term (replacement). I was hoping to hear from Lewis.
I just hope for a sweet shooter rather than highest power. There really isn't much practical difference in use between say 9-1/2 and 13 fpe. My TM 1000 has taught me that; and the FWB 300S has shown what 8 or less can do out to incredible ranges even in a little wind.
Thanks for responding there, we will see how it goes in a few weeks when that archaic Registry responds. I reckon a lot of our money gets diverted elsewhere. ... Regards, Harry.

Jim Maccari also does a soft shooting kit.
TBH my full power kit is smooth and fast with very little recoil anyway. Easy cocking, full power and good accuracy.

Re: FWB124 for sale
Update.
The rifle has reached my dealer at Hunting Haven in Uralla New England Tablelands 20 minutes from our property.
John Harrison tells me it seems to have only one small mark; and the stock is excellent. The ad said "very good condition" and John feels it is at least that. I might add that the seller was most obliging.
Its function tests will have to wait until we make the next farm trip when hopefully I will have the PTA back from the Registry. ... Harry.
