Hell mate I shot 900 on Saturday and it was hard here. First stage 51.2 missed the change in the middle from right to left to left to right and a ball buster of a mirage. Second stage went even worse. 47.0 so a grand total of 98.2 so you shot a lot better than I did mate. Even though it was at half the range ;)

I didnt go last weekend, but did the weekend before to test loads for my 6BR at 500yds. First string I tested 29.6gr and 29.8gr and two seating depths 10 thou jump and 20 thou jump at each charge for a 60.6, second string I had 11 rounds left as a mixture of the previous loads then 10 loaded at 30gr with 10 and 20 thou jump to blow off at the end over the chrony. Conditions had got really challenging with the mirage quite thick so I shot the first sighter on a changing condition and got a 5, then put the next shot into the X once it was back to normal so I knew what the changes was worth to shoot off. With 1 on I knew I had enough to finish the string pretty confident of a high score. Once finished and without dropping a point in the next 9 shots I got up to remove the rifle only to be told I had 8 shots on. I showed them the empties and they were left scratching their head. Electronic targets makes scorers LAZY when you shoot manuals again! So with no choice but to fire more shots I had to take a gamble with the 30gr load and held half the X ring lower and lucky I did as it was a mid to high 6. A big change came through that hadnt been seen all day and I had to wait for a few minutes which didnt help considering I was a little peeved at the scorers already. Not long later I decided to make a guess out to the right and down and risk it. Target came back up as an X and finished with a 60.4 and a total of 120.10. Not bad for a day load testing. Its a funny but nice feeling when you have 3 barrels in the safe all working nicely, will take a couple of weeks away from the range to get ready before the next prize shoot. Final load will be 29.7gr of 2208 and a 107 sierra with 10 thou jump, a CCI450 primer and lapua brass. Pic of the firing line below. Im in the foreground behind the green rifle. So far its been fantastic and have changed its name from kermit to the green dream.

I must admit in the photo it looks like Im laying at a pretty gnarly angle. I cant do that with the 284 shehane. But with old mate on the opposite side of me I know that I wouldnt be in my full shooting position as he would have been shooting before me. We dont remove our gear from the line when theres only a few f classers on the day- we just fold the mats out and we lay where ever. Since our range is still closed we are shooting at another range and only a few make the journey. If it was our range there could be up to 20 of us so we pack up each time.

Makes you wonder how you can miss shot's if you watch your shooter first until they fire then look at the screen or target. Anyway back to 300 this weekend for me should be a lot cooler and hopefully no mirage and wind that blows from one direction too would be nice since I am not at Canberra.

Very easy to do because you cant see their reticle where they hold or know what their wind zero is marked at. I dont set my scopes at 0 wind on the 0 mark. So when people ask how much wind you have on you look at the scope and show them its on 7 when your wind zero is actually 2. Have been known to play around a little bit. For instance winding a couple of minutes the wrong way but holding off on the reticle. Doing that mid string always makes people scratch their head when you shoot a 60. Club shoots arent just for practicing shooting, you got to enjoy it with a practical joke or 3!

Glad I don't shoot at your club I'd never work it out with help like that ;) Damm it's hot I hope that cold front comes in fast tomorrow. Back to it, looks like Brisbane Queens is the only one to shoot the 300 NSW and ACT have dropped it.
