I was going to buy a 12-42 NF Br scope.

Glenn, would you say that's too big to do any varmint work as well?


The NF is 1700 and something, best I can find on this sightron is 1400 and something

So if we think the NF is no good in the dual purpose role so we compare the two as target options only, apart from saving $300ish would you buy this Sightron over the NF?

We ran a Sightron 10-50 next to a NF BR 8-32 at 30x on a target at 500y and both of us came to the conclusion the sightron looked better. The other person with me was the owner of the 2 scopes.

An 8-32 would be better for varminting than a 10-50 but then a 8-32 wont see 6mm bullet holes at 500m (unless the conditions are perfect) if you want to use it for the odd fly shoot. Thats why i for the bigger one.

I went the 8-32 for a varmint and informal target rifle, being able to wind back to is great for spotting bunnies, up to 32 on targets to see where shots are hitting is great too.

I've got the 8-32x currently, and was also looking for more mag. Other than the Nightforce I was also waiting to see the new competition Vortex but now might have to consider another Sightron. In the daylight, I'd struggle to tell the difference between it and my 8-32x56 NXS.

I have a 10-50 Sightron (as well as March 10-60s) and yes, it is certainly a good long range scope. Good optics and power, good tracking and reliability, I'm more than happy with mine and it gets wound from 100yd up to 1200yds.
