Velocity again
G'day fellas , lrp solutions re chambered the standard swift barrel I had to improved settled on this load 44.5 grains of 06h 40 grain vmax ( low bc) but stands up well with a 300 yd zero I'm 1.6 inches high at 200 and 6 inches low at 400 . I've tried all weights over the years and found a 40 btip or v max hard to beat at these velocitys, we've shot 26 pigs since yesterday arvo , mostly small to average size , but it's the crows and foxes I love this gun for

Re: Velocity again
Nice
Im with you on light weight pills for maximum point and shoot range.
My swift runs on 40gr V-max, just started work on some 55gr loads for the 240, saw 3900+ the other day without issue 4000 wont be a problem 4100 should be achievable and might even see more safely, not bad for a 24" barrel.

Re: Velocity again
Glenn zero is 300 I'm actually running some 60 trainers tonight for a try , 3850 fps with a 280 yd zero they are 2inches high at 200 , 5 inches low at 350 and 10.5 at 400 but when I tested them at 400 they really held 2 nice round 2 inch groups , so for something different I'll give em a go

Re: Velocity again
I know it doesn't matter but how lucky Ng do you think the barrel will last or the throat burns out

Re: Velocity again
Jack I've fired around 750 through one and 900 through the other , they both have throat erosion but still hold around 1.8 - 2 inch mark at 400 yds ,

Re: Velocity again
yeah 240wby, looks like it will go alright.mistit wrote:Missed yep happy for shore , brad loved any 6 Br I've had great all round cartridge , 220 a 240 weatherby I presume , that would be another rocket ship as long as it shot well I reckon it would be tops for out west shooting
Did a little more testing, only 3 shots to get an idea of velocity and potential accuracy.
Not quite in your velocity league but not to shabby for a 55gr pill.

Last 2 loads tested both averaged over 4000fps and 3 shot groups went 0.61" and 0.52"
Quite happy for a out of the box rifle that cost under $1k including scope and mounts, haven't touched the trigger or bedding yet, in fact it hasn't been out of the factory stock yet.

Re: Velocity again
You would have to be happy with that 220 for the price paid , looks like it will shoot pretty well to
