BSA Meteor Reunion

Post by Youngy »

I was motivated by Nate's discovery of his Grandad's Gecado to go rummage through my parent's place in search of my first love.

Hey presto !!!

BSA Meteor Mk V .177 (1984/1985 vintage) in excellent condition.

Just dropped her off at Safari for registration.

I'll change the o-ring on the barrel and see how she shoots.
Might need to hand her over to you Matt975 for a bit of a tune & tickle ?

Thanks for the inspiration Nate !!!

I can't be at Hornsby next week, but will try for October......you can leave your ear plugs at home this time !!!

What? Another peaceful Saturday afternoon?

So, when do we see the OTHER new toy Andrew? I trust it will be quieter than the first.

Hi Nate,

I'm not sure what the internals are like after 30 years, so instead of breaking anything, I'm gonna give it to Matt for to give it a once over before I shoot.

Can't wait.

yeah gotcha...

Mine was actually in really good nick, despite never having had anything in terms of maintenance.
The barrel was gawd awful - spent some time near the coastal fringe, & it was just in a box with a sheet wrapped around it. So there was some barrel cleaning to be done & it was really bad - felt like 200grit at the start & ended up like a mirror & squeaky clean after the process.

Spring & seal is where it was really at - big increases in performance & most likely consistency (didnt do much chrony work before the install)

The internals were fine - i'm pretty sure the BSA would be the same as de Germans, quality steel/alloy & lubed well enough. Will be good to hear how it goes!
