Thanks Missed. Nosler sounds the easy way but will decide between $ for brass or time fiddling in the shed and neck turning gear. Think it would be good to be able to make brass and not rely on factory 221.
Chappo, sounds like a good source of cheaper quality brass for modifying. What do you mean by small flash hole?

Most flash holes are 0.080 thou, the ADI blanks are 0.059 thou similar to lapua match brass.

Chappo
Ohh... So the flash hole uniformer I'm getting for Xmas probably wont be suitable
Do you do much else to the ADI brass apart from sizing and neck turning?

Great choise it your chosen cartridge. I would not be with out my VT now absalutly love shooting it.
I've made 20VT from Rem 223, PPU, Norma, Hornady, Fedral and Whinchester brass. the only brass I've had any issue with was some unprimed Winchester that I got from F knows where I think my btother got it with a rifle. It just crushed no mater what i did. mind you I had some once fired Whinchester that fotmed really nice. still yet to fire form some of these but getting arund to it.
I've also made 200 out of Lapua 221 brass and this was by far the easiest way with no losses at all. im sure norma and orcthe Nosler bras would be great as well.
All the best with the project

Re: Who`s Building
Thinking about one as well. I know where a rem 17 fireball action is sitting and not doing any work. Either a 20VT or a straight 221 fireball. 20 inch barrel, internal mag, timber stock.... yesssss it will be an epic drive around and shoot kind of stick.

Hey Bruce, not as yet mate, I haven't put any rounds together as yet in case I have to turn the necks. I keep forgetting to ask my smith for the reamer specks to get a start on them.B4408 wrote:VARTARG, sounds like a good setup you have planned.
I am cosidering using the Norma/Nosler brass. Do you have the neck diameter of a loaded round( or anyone else)?
