Given the fun had seems to be inversely proportional to the cost of the rifle (except for Gary), we might look at some kind of "Heritage" air rifle shoot with old school "slug guns" and open sights. Could be a lot of fun and would level the playing field.

In reality, we already have the two different categories. Most folks prefer the PCPs over Springers. Horses for courses.

A quick question, would an Anschutz 380 be up to the task?

As it is a 10m match rifle, I am not sure of its abilities further out.

It would be fine on the closer targets but may struggle on the further away ones. Fortunately ( for you) the recent range changes mean the majority of targets are closer than 30m (the most difficult targets were small kill zones at 12m). Now that we're using commercial targets with the over center mechanism, power to trip the target shouldn't be an issue provided you can hit it. Bring it along and give it a try to be sure.

A couple of guys had issues dropping targets beyond 15-20m at the nationals last year with their FWB300s.

come down anyway Col. The club has a Webley springer you could use (I hope I didn't step on toes here JWD) and the guys attending always have more than one AR on hand. I'm sure they would lend you one.

+1 for Geoff's comment. The Webley springer has just been given the Matt treatment and is working very smoothly. Shoots around 12ft lbs and is pretty accurate. There's always more rifles than shooters at these events and given one one member of each team shoots at a time, it's not hard to loan gear. Nothing like 6cents s shot for top end pellets to help with the sharing. Trying that with .308 is a different story.

Bring it along Col, the winner of last months comp was shooting a Gecado 35 with not much more power than an on song A 380.

The Hornsby club actually has 2 x A 380's for 10M work, so it won't feel out of place

yeah you're down a bit from the Gecado... i was doing around low 600fps with mine.
It did manage to take down the 50m targets a few times (2/3) which was just silly fun.
no issues with anything else too - all with the new targets.
