Field Target Competition - Hornsby Smallbore Range - Sat 31st Oct 2015

Post by JWD »

After much furious upgrade of the range facilities, it looks like we are going to be open for business again in time for a last day in October FT event (Yay!)

More details (and some more photos of the renovations) as things get closer but we will follow a similar conduct to previous comps although the course layout will be a little different (but always interesting). If you've been to Cecil Park you will have seen a similar layout where we have baffles to prevent errant shots escaping from the range (mostly for .22lr but we have to comply as well)

So now's the time to start organising the leave pass for a Saturday afternoon of fun.

Timings:Arrive 12pm for a 1pm kickoff

Conduct: Semi flexible, team based format, and a wide selection of range, and a BBQ afterwards.

Looking forward to catching up again, checking out the new bling, and trying one of Matt's beanbags.

Halloween camping trip? Make sure you take your video camera, take as much footage in the dark as you can, and leave it where we can find it.

Can't say I've ever won anything...

You just drive safe young fella. Thanks for you company, and the younger fella's, on Thursday. Good to catch up.

Was successful with the bambi trip?

See you in person again in TCB. Oh. Did you add to the collection?

It was good to catch up they saw a couple weather was a bit RS plus they were in the area where those fugitives were supposed to be and a bit reluctant to fire a shot and you ask a lot of questions.

The Hornsby Range is open at last!

After receiving some renovations to comply with upgraded firearms template requirements we are good to go.

The overall impact is minimal and is designed to stop any stray shots from exiting the range (despite it never happening in all the time the range has been open). The new layout may also provide some new target layout opportunities based.

Check out the photos below. Looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday.

The wall is to stop ground ricochets. You can shoot over it from a prone position as the range itself is lower than the firing points and targets. I'll discuss with the committee but it looks like we will have some targets either side of the wall with different firing positions for each. Sat will let us figure out some options.
