JEWELL TRIGGER

ok gurus i popped a jewell HVR trigger today bunny busting :evil: i popped a primer and now

it will cock but nothing happens when you touch the trigger so is it toast or can it be fixed ...

ok after writing that it just didn't look right so i pulled it out and had a look and a bit of crap must have

got in somewhere and stopped a bit of trigger travel so a readjust and away it go's .

ive been told jewell triggers are not the best option for when the rifle is going to get very dirty.

i think i'm in for some bolt work as the pressures are still on the mild side of things

I think that applies to almost all triggers. :wink:

well AFAIC it's a combo of over sized firing pin hole countersunk hole and a pin that needs the radius sorted

as you can see the bolt has a problem if it does this to a good working load .

you can see why it cookie cuts the occasional primer .

Looks like a factory rem bolt? My 6Br primers on heavy loads look the same as that.

Hi Guys,,
Had this problem myself with Rem. Bolt and 6BR. Sent bolt away and had firing pin hole bored out, then filled with a plug screwed and silver soldered in, and a new hole bored to take a .063 firing pin and the existing pin ground back to suit. No more problems even with heafty loads in the 6BR and 30br.

you got it , it's on my old rebarreled 17 rem from the 80s was a 6x45 for 9000 rounds now a 223

Which primers are you running? Maybe try something with a harder cup first.

I had the same issue with a savage and going to rem 7 1/2 primers helped.

Remington primers are a lot softer than cci or at least they were i haven't touched them in more than 15 years
