The project is in full swing. Grabbed some sear covers and grab handles last week. New wheels and tyres got fitted today. I removed the doors and fitted the safari mirrors tonight so I can still legally drive it without doors. I have the seat rails to do but I ran out of motivation tonight. I was thinking of installing the side bars but I might wait until the flares get here.

In transit I have a bikini top, Safari top, header bar (for the tops),

I have ordered flares (new tyres stick out a little), front bar, rear bar and wheel carrier.

The decisions left are the lift (2" or leave it) and wether I should get a set of half doors. I reckon I will leave the decision n half doors until after I have driven it a few times without doors.

Saw that article/debate. From my quick read the Colorado produces a higher peak AND overall more torque than the larger Isuzu engine.

Doesn't the Colorado produce close to 500Nm (470 or so depending on model)? I also noticed a fair few Colorado owners around these parts, not that the Isuzu isn't a very close second. Not many other alternatives for the price, unless you want an old Jag engined 4WD....

Half doors may be an option to keep some of the weather out (ie. spray). Plus I'd like the idea of some side protection from errant Camry's etc.

After driving the kids to school in it today i was thinking half doors might happen. There is no side protection in tj wrangler doors, they pass the ADR impact tests without doors attached due to chassis rigidity and the height of the seat. The half doors are foam filled .

The kids did enjoy it, but at around 15 degrees it wasnt ideal for driving without doors so they were lucky its only a few minute trip.

I took it down the hwy at lunchtime and it felt a lot better the more you did it. I kept grabbing my pocket to make sure my keys or wallet didn't fall out though. The 2 roofs arrived today but the header is in another box so hopefully that will be here tomorrow.

Reminds me of when I was about 6 years old and my Uncle drove me from the farm to school (in the 'burbs) while I hung onto the side of the tractor. He wouldn't let me ride on the slasher....

Tires and rims look good and I would definitely go the 2" lift. The half doors should look good and you will have somewhere to slip the wallet and bits as they should have the door pockets on them. Good idea waiting for the flares to go on before you fit the side bars as it is a pain having to re-model them afterwards.

Yep, that's me. I registered a week before I bought it.

I spent last Friday night and all of Saturday working on it and woke up sore as hell on Sunday.
