I started out not quite a year ago with a bog standard t 3 lite in 6.5 x 55out to 900 yards and it did fine with 140 hornady bthp . i now use an omark 308 bigger scope though

When I dabbled in F Open (between the instance of complete dark side madness and coming to my senses and returning to the sunlight fields of Target Rifle) I used a .260 Rem, Savage Mod 12 Long Range Precision.
Using 123gn (or may have been 139gn I forget which right now) Lapua Scenars I was getting 300WM (180gn proj.) trajectories all the way out to 1000 yards.

Your .260 will do the job quite nicely at all ranges, meaning you wont have the recoil and muzzle blast of the 7mmRM to contend with for 12 shots.

Makes it nicer for the person firing BESIDE YOU as well

Yeah am thinking of getting a heavy barrel for my 6.5x55 maybe even going to an AI as well. Well I can dream never get it passed the wife, always good to have a dream. Got to love the BC of a 140 or 142 match projectile all over 500.

Oh duel range again today 600 and 700 a stage at each. 600 first stage and holy crap it was a hard day for all at the range today nasty cross wind from right to left gusting and not staying constant.
Could only manage a 51.
Then had to mark so was lucky for my second stage the wind abated somewhat, or at least stay'd more constant. First sighter a 5, and got better affter that X X 6 6 then a ammo problem resulted in a 4 5 6 5 X and finally a bloody 4, missed the change and left too much on way out to the right. But much better at 54.3

Nice work, i know that feeling I have had 20 loaded to test for about a month and I live on a property. Work and weather got in the way.
Had a look at a target last night from my F Std Omark put 3 rounds through it to foul the barrel and perfect clover leaf into .388 which I don't think is too bad for a barrel that has done 3700 odd rounds.

Back home from two days Match Rifle shooting at Ungarie.Only four of us made it there, plus one F/Open on Saturday. For those that don't know,Match Rifle is shot at 1000 yards,1100 yards and 1200 yards.A great weekend of match practice, getting the cobwebs out of the gear and getting the mind back onto the job.The next serious match is the Victorian Match Rifle Championships at Stawell,in November.
