Re: 338 Win Mag
2 - 7 would be my pick of the two options mate. I have a Leupold 3-9x40 VX11 on mine, works ok, for a yankee scope
Re: 338 Win Mag
Another vote for the 2x7

Re: 338 Win Mag
225 gn for the deer. Should give you around 3918 ft-lbf of energy (at the muzzle of course) which is the highest energy return out of the 200, 225, 250 gn pill options.
That's based on a speed of 2800 fps for the 225 gn pill.

IgB Gerodgio, I have a selection of 338 bullets, I will bring some down to the Missathon, want a list of what I have ? Personally I would just load some 225gn Woodleigh and be done with it, maybe 250s if you think they are needed.
Re: 338 Win Mag
Your buff load ... may as well get used to it. I'd just try the 300gr RNSP Woodleigh, those RN pills open fast enough to down deer and hold well together to give buff penetration at all but the most extreme angles.big G wrote:Have a spare Bushnell elite 2-7 to put on the big girl.

+2,
Use the load that your life "may" depend on. . . When you poke a buff in the ribs with some copper coated lead, you need to be familiar with the load.

[quote="big G"]Paid for the 338.
Now waiting for my PTA to arrive back.
Might fit a 2-7 or my red dot scope.
What you reckon team AV.?
Big G[/quote
6-20x50 conquest with an Rz800 reticle
For projectiles maybe load up some NGK BP8 ES

Why not try the red dot, just to upset people.MISSED wrote:big G wrote:Paid for the 338.

I prefer NGK B8EGV, they last longer.

Re: 338 Win Mag
Interesting guys.
Emailed Geoff McDonald of Woodliegh.
My question to him was his suggestion on buff loads in 338!win Mag.
top load with some 250/300RN or FMJs for number 3 and 4 close and personal blowing snot on Big G if it arises. .
He suggested the 250PP,bit more penetration over RN.one load.
Sambar stag projectile.
Same 250 PP or don't be frighten to give the 225 PP a run on the brown deer that Waldo's dogs find for him.
Pretty much confirms what you guys are suggesting .
Cheers BigbG

Don't let them get near any 17/20 stuff.
