Nightforce reticles

Post by trevort »

will get the 12x42 x 56 for 500m plus. Looking at reticles NPR2 and NP2dd.

Extra aiming points or uncluttered view?

Any opinions from users on these or other reticle options welcome

I'm a NP-R2 man..

Next Nightforce will use a NP-R1.. not shown on Nightforce website. It is the same as the NP-R2 just more dash marks.

It will be a 5.5-22X56 NXS though.

G'day trev,
as a BR shooter, I like an uncluttered view and just hold off, a lot of F class shooters like stadia marks, but I fear that one day I'll throw a match by using the wrong one as my aim point. Since you are aiming at circle you need to have either fine CH or a 1/8moa dot.

My NF 8-32 has the NP2-DD which is for LR varminting and F class. i haven't used it yet and it will fit it to my .223 to start with then my 6x47 lapua when it is built

Ned,

This happened to one of the F-Open leaders at the SA Queens last weekend. I aim off with a fine cross-hair using the the target rings only. Its not ideal for "measuring" the amount of MOA aim-off, but works okay in practice.

G'Day Alan
Yes, I agree that's why I bought the double dot reticle. It will suit nicely for F class and varminting. no stadia marks for me!

I hope to see you at Lang Lang in a week of so.

Prodj the NXS models are 1/4 clicks, ppl go for the BR model because of the 1/8 clicks.

The one I bought recently was a 12-42 BR model with a CH2 reticle in it. I thought I'd have a hard time adjusting to something other than a mil dot type scope, but have been really surprised with how easy it was to adapt. You just find other things to use as hold off points. And as was said earlier, it gives you less opportunity to screw yourself over by using the wrong dot or bar as your hold off marker.
