2016 Southern Cross 1000yd BR Championship

The 2016 Southern Cross 1000yd BR Championship will be held on the Narromine Dubbo Rifle Range on Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of July 2016. (1st weekend of the NSW Term 2/3 School Holidays).

Competitors may nominate to shoot in either of the following classes of competition.

Heavy Gun International IBS (unlimited weight)

Light Gun International IBS (17lb max weight limit)

308/223 International (17lb weight limit)

Light Gun Standard (22lb/10kg max weight limit)

308/223 Standard (22lb/10kg max weight limit)

Friday the 1st of July, is again available to locals and visitors, for practise, flag erection, tuning, sighting etc.

However following the suggestion of Alan Nielsen, Thursday the 30th of June has been scheduled for an independent lead up/preliminary 1000yd BR Match.

For the 1000yd BR lead up event, specific details regarding number of targets to be shot, match procedures, entry fee (if any?) will be determined and published, once prospective competitor interests and participation numbers are known.

In view of the minimal daylight hours at this time of the year, a maximum of 8 details (5 competitors per detail) has been scheduled for the SCC.

Available vacancies and opportunities, for those who wish to enter in both HG and LG will be determined by the final number of nominations received.

Therefore, could competitors please nominate their priority for either HG or LG in their nomination details?

For nominations; - (and or Narromine Dubbo 1000yd BR Information Packages and Details)

Email dg1048@yahoo.com.au

Ph. 02 68 892141

Could nominees, please include their class of competition preference/preferences and also indicate if they would be interested in attending the Thursday lead up 1000yd BR event.

Nominations in excess of the 40 shooter limit will be placed in priority order and will be notified as vacancies become available. (this normally happens as unforseen family/work/personal factors eventuate)

Narromine Accommodation

Peppercorn Motel – 68891399

Narromine Tourism Park (Cabins) – 68892129 (near Airport)

Stockman Motel – 68892033

Hi Dave,

Good to see we have dates. Put me down for HG, then LG if there is space, and I will be there to shoot the Thursday match.
I have already started the new LG, using the same barrel, but a new action and stock. Will probably be a right right bottom, not sure on the width of the fore end. Testing is already under way for next year's bullets, tomorrow should be a good day to test in Narromine like conditions, should be about 5 deg, strong winds, very Narromine, now we just need some fog...

Dave I may have a rifle that could make the distance by then, if so I will have a crack but if my mate from Hillston remembers the phone discussion we had you may have two spectators whether I have a rifle or not

no problems, HG 1st priority, LG 2nd , as you know final numbers will govern the final organisation details.

no doubt numbers will fluctuate, but over the last few days, there has been considerable interest from some new and not so new competitors to again nominate for the 2016 SCC.

good luck in your testing.

BTW at the moment it is all but snowing down here !!!!!

Dave,

It feels like it's snowing up here, only got to 24, with a cold southerly, and they say it will be colder tomorrow. Just as well I'm going another 350k north for work tomorrow, otherwise I'd have to buy thermals.

not getting carried away by any means, as usually the numbers fluctuate, but as of today, 38 individuals are in the draw for the 2016 SCC.

HG Blind - 8
LG Blind - (includes 308/223) - 18
LG Marked (includes 308/223)- 12

Hi Dave,
Put me down for L.G.Blind and the Thursday match as well. I have just finished fitting a new Bartlein to my L.G.Will be running it in at Ravenshoe to-Morrow, then it will be load development for it when we shoot the 500 at Townsville. Running it in with old cases and will start the tedious process of prepping 50 new Lapua cases. Am sticking to the old faithfull .284 Win.
Cheers ,
Trevor.

good on you trev !!!!

goodluck with the new 284.

mate, as is normal procedure, all who attended this year's match are automatically in the draw for the following year.

if some withdraw, it is not a problem, and any on the reserve list are notified to take up any vacancies created.

BTW -the weather here lately and for the next week would freeze the sexual bits off a non ferrous metallic omnivore.

cheers
