Yeah yesterday was 800 yards for me hard cross wind varying strength. scored two 53's with 4 centres for 106.4
Next week is 900. I have made mistakes when marking, scoring a 223 shooter that was just off the line the lower score not realising that there is a 8 mm allowance.

For some reason or another I have troubles and some of my replies don't get posted, however I will keep trying, correct scoring is a beef of mine, there is no excuse for poor and sloppy scoring, whether at a small outback club or at a Queen's prize meeting. The shooter has to stand their ground and not fire again until they hear the correct score called. If the scorer is up close to the shooter and makes clear distinct calls problems seldom arise.

the problem comes from inexperience at scoring ,flash.
thats all.
we used two targets today [and most days] and both of us markers made mistakes.
the 300 target and centres had us both confused.for a short time.
used to marking the bigger targets.
the first black ring on the 300 is a 2,the first black ring on the 500 target and up is a 3.
makes it confusing when you mark, but all fixed now.

We simply score it all as F class and the scorer on the mound score's it as per target rifle or f class as you don't know who is shooting what. Seems to work for us

Well 900 yards come and gone again, best score shot though should have been higher but that was my fault.
first stage had a steady westerly which at times fishtailed almost straight down the range then flicked back to a westerly. 55.2 once I got my elevation right. Had 2.5 inch's or more of windage on and still had to aim off a bit at times.
Second stage and I was the last shooter only could muster 54.3 first two sighter's were 4's so cut them, mad the dumb thought that the wind had dropped off enough took off my windage and first shot was a 9 o'clock magpie. DOH put it back on and kept them in the 5 ring minimal. Good finish on both stages first 6 5 6 XX and second - X 5 X 6 X  If only I could start like that.

900 for me to yesterday.
was first up.
little wind but the mirage was going crazy.3 0'clock right,1 o'clock right,11 0'clock left and back again.
they only put up the first half of the wind flags [just got lazy i guess] which made things interested.
only got a 74.1 though.
fairly dismal shooting....but what the hell, its still fun and all practice.

Sean,

If you are ever coming to Townsville, try to do it for the first Saturday and Sunday of the month. You can shoot 1000yd and 500m on Saturday, then F class on Sunday morning like Trev Armstrong. Camping is available on range, or if you let me know, here. You will have a great time, and probably have some good results to boot.

mate, that sounds great, but for the next 10 yrs or so [if i dont get a mrs before that,or a house sitter] i have two dogs that dont play well with others.
i cant leave em anywhere, the bitch chases bullets and anything else that makes a noise [or not] and the boy runs and hides.....
at best i might be able to shoot at cessnock when im down there, cause the dogs can be left at the folks place.
some times batchin aint that great, but most times i love it.

How'd you go yesterday Lonerider 300 for me best score to date 114.3 still can't find the centre much but kept most of them in the 6 ring. Thankfully it didn't rain until after we finished and it started to snow mid last night and is probably going to snow till Monday. Might go for a walk and see what tracks I can follow been some pigs coming off next doors place.

shot the 300yrds today.
89.2 i ended up with.
some shots i pulled, some i thought i pulled ended up in a good place, others ive no idea and no excuse for...
it wasnt until i went to take the sites of that i found my rear sight block on the action was a little loose.
didnt feel loose last week at 900,didnt feel loose when i put the sights on today.....but,thats shootin for ya.

blowin a bit left to right and into the back of my left ear about 12 to 16 mph, gusting at times.
full sun.
damn cold,about 17c.

i think that was my best score at the 3 so far,so im getting better.
100yrd next week.....BRING IT ON !!!

I think it is from what you've posted. 89 is only getting up there mate keep it up. Just think how you would have gone with the rear sight tight and not a bit loose. 300 is the shortest range we shoot at otherwise it would end up with each target having to replace the centre after centre after centre. hell the last time we shot 300 and had the A grade F classers we had to replace them a lot. 17 Burrrrr that's like summer for here ;) snowed last night today and tonight

i dit the 900 yrds today.
very tricky wind, constantly changing direction and gusting + the mirage was doing its own thing at the same time.
managed a straight 40 on the first range, the second was a 47-1. so 87-1 was it.
luckily i didnt shoot my mouth off because the scorer added up wrong.....77-1 on correction.
i was a little disappointed...but....had a good laugh anyhow.
i thought id beaten two of the other 3 TR shooters up until then....
even had a good laugh at the super 1 that was scored by a new shooter.
saw a red 4 marked with a white 5 spotter disk and scored as a 5....that was different.
the shooter for that one got it sorted and didnt we put shit on the target marker....

it was a fun day....

ya really need a sense of humour at our club....

Anyway good shooting it sounds like it is coming together for you and doesn't matter who you are 900 is a long way.
