Howa 1500 base and rings.
Hi Guys and Camel.
Wacked on some Weaver bases on to action.
Then a set of Leupold QRW rings for the 3-12 x 50 Zeiss.
Started the sight in process,25 meters low, very low.
Full range of the elevation, still 4 inches low at 25.
100 meters ,1 in low. No elevation.
Then tried a Howa pic base with same rings.
Full elevation at 25 meters,1 inch low.
100 meters,point of aim.
Tried a set of Leupold 2 pce base with rings as well.
Same result.
Ammo was Federal Tac 130'Hp factory .
Was thinking of shimming the rear section of the base.
The scopes ment to have 100cm of travel.
Any solutions boys,bases and rings.
I remember some where on another site that someone said they had to shim up the rear base.

Re: Howa 1500 base and rings.
You have 2 options as i see it:
1. shims
2. rings with built in elevation
The cheapest option for rings are the burris with inserts. you can build in 20moa and that should get you where you want to be. I had a few sets of them a while ago but only had a little play with them before i took them off and sold the rifle. If thats what you want to have a go at i can have a look and see what i can find.

Leupold 30 mm rings and bases.
Measurement from rear of base, not taken from ring position hight.

Bit of 0.040” feeler gauge I reckon and try shooting that; is what I was getting at mate.
Confirm that fixes your issue, then Ka-ching Shopping Time.
