Trev I have a modified Wilson case holder,I chuck the case holder up in the lathe, place a case in the holder,I have the extractorgrooverimmodifiyingtool in the tool post.I centre the cutter and take a plunge cut,it deepens the groove and also cuts the chamfer at the front of the groove,I then take the depth just cut of the outside of the rim.
It sounds like a bit of fucking around and it is but I don't want to open the bolt faces up to use .473 brass,Glen made the tool for me and it works a treat.

Regards Chris.

From memory it's 10x10mm Trev. You set it up in the lathe and machine the case. Kinda like the cutter in a neck turner but bigger and not for necks.

I spoke to a client last week and they are going to EDM me a cutter. i went a step further and put in angles so it will cut the rebate and rim at the same time. I need it to make some 500 phantom cases.

Why not get it wire cut. That way. all cutting edge clearances will be done in the same operation?

Wire cutting is an EDM process just a very different one.

not a great deal of difference in dimension between BR and PPC, would you use the 223 sized cases?
