Great Get - HW77 Mk I
Hi Ladies and Germs,
I walked into one of my local LGSs in the eastern side of Melbourne and spotted this little beauty. It was on the shelf right next to a new HW77K (butchered HW97Ks). The shop owner didn't really know what the rifle actually represented and was only interested in a quick sale .............................. so I managed to take some more off the listed $$. As I found out, it was part of a deceased estate collection. She looked like she hadn't been used in a while with a commensurate layer of dust to suit; In almost new condition.
Now christened Matilde, she was collected a couple of weeks ago. After a strip down, clean and a tune kit installed (Matt975: VMatt version), she shoots like a dream. She is from one of the original 1983 production runs with the 25 mm piston seal. Very sort after in the early days of FT with Terry Doe winning FT competitions in the UK with a similar rifle in custom stock named Emily.
I haven't put her through her paces yet but early indications are that I will have a hard time deciding whether I will use Matilde or Baby Blue (HW97K in 0.177 with a Tony Wall kit) for FT comps. Time will tell.
Pics below. Still sourcing an appropriate scope but for now the Artic Fox 2 - 7 x 32 AO is doing a satisfactory job.

And to round out the accolades of wonderment . . . . whats FT competition ?
Very nice rifle though to look at, I too don't know squat about pellet guns.

Sorry about the acronyms. Field Target comps. A new discipline in this great land of Oz for Air Rifles.
Here are a few Youtube links which explains FT as a discipline.

Got the HW80 from around the same vintage - good little air rifle for smackin bunnies over with.

You might actually have to haul yourself down to Hornsby for the July shoot. That's likely to be my next visit north.
She's shooting about 11.8 FPE so the next step is to bring her down to low 11's to give me some margin when putting her over a chrony at Comps. Servicing Baby Blue and taking her down a tad as well.

When is the July shoot? Tried to get to the one earlier this year but wasn't to be. Want to bring the R9 down and have some fun.grmkc wrote:You might actually have to haul yourself down to Hornsby for the July shoot. That's likely to be my next visit north.

There' also a shoot on 13/6/15 Ryan. Its just that I can't make it. I believe it will become a monthly event. I think the missus might crack it if I go up monthly from Melb. I'm running another shoot in Melb concurrently so its an impossibility anyway. Use the same details from a previous post on the forum to contact James Dibbs, the convenor. I may see you in July though.

Re: Great Get - HW77 Mk I
I'll be at the June shoot for sure , I'll have to check my roster for the July one.
Has a date been set for the July shoot yet ?
I ran my 97 through the chrony this morning and its crept up over the 12 fpe mark, Ive booked it in with Matt W for a service and tuned back a bit.
