Yeah I know its not a REAL varmint rifle but I took it out again.
It's so much bloody fun to shoot.
Did some shooting with the Sharps today, first time using black mz.
Initial grouping at 100m with preloaded cartridges were great, around 2 inchs. Then I changed the front insert and it went down hill. Put the original insert back in but things never picked up.
After the 20 preloaded shells I was loading 32gns polenta and 60 gns of black mz.
My thoughts on the black mz.
Nothing but good to say about it.
Wiping after every 4 shots and the amount of gunk that came out was about half of what real bp is.
I fired about 40 shots and the breech block didn't stick at all whereas real bp id need to remove it after about 10 shots to clean.
Only down side is the cost which is $54 per half kilo, but I can get it locally so that helps, and if I take into account fuel costs for a 4 hour round trip.
My setup, a great way to spend out doors
If you look closely at my shithouse picture you can see my targets.

Here I was thinking that the shithouse was a tad breezy too.
But yes, a hell of a good way to spend the arvo, cant wait for a hunting report from you.

You can't post up pics of a black powder jobbie and not have a smoke cloud pic.
