okie dokie.500yrds.blowing hard left to right/gusty.12-18mph.
first 7 shots were to sight in so i was getting on paper, after that the fun started.
peep sights were wrong, front sight aperture needs to be bigger.
didnt know what length the bullets were, some felt like they were jammed into the lands some felt not.
he's a bit loud being short and the guys think it'll be something to see if we do a night shoot :D
but...

89-2

better than ive ever gotten.

i should have the rear sight sorted by next weekend and hopefully i will be able to get some new cases.
i hope the powder shortage is sorted soon, ive only got about 250g left.

PIG IN SHIT !!

absolutely farkin wrapped.

sean.

ps: the other TR shooter [miles of experience] got 89-5....

Great stuff there Sean. Great that you are getting an old Omark up and going and getting some results, brilliant that it is your Grandfathers.

That is a great shot mate, always good when you get our own gear up and running. 600 yards here this weekend got my Caldwell fire control front in the mail last week so let's see how I go with a proper rest. :D

600 this weekend.
ive just been out checking my fired cases.
the problem i was having seems to be down to seating depth.
using the comparator and measuring, isnt consistent.
so im going back to using the lee handloader kit.until i get this super simplex sorted properly.

looking forward to outdoing the other TR shooter.

so much fun.

problem one : rear sight was canted to the left.throwing windage out. [almost fixed, little bit more cant needed i think]
problem two : front sight was sitting up on the right side, didnt notice before. [changed to another sight, all fixed]
problem three : some unfired cases are too long, making the bolt tight to close. [will take it to the smith and get it headspace checked]
might not be seating depth that has been the problem.

anyhow, with the sight problem and the pain in my wrist being a bit of a distraction,i only managed a 78-0 today.
not exactly happy but not to worry.
better luck next time.
the claremont [prize ?] shoot is on next week so the range will be closed.
gives me 2 weeks to get these niggly problems sorted.
my spotting scope should be here by then also.

Sean,
Not sure, but possibly the pain in your wrist is from the sling being a tad too short? Let it out a notch at a time and see if there is an acceptable change in comfort Vs "solidity".
It sounds like you are being pulled "out of shape" if there is pain, numbing and a small amount of discomfort as such is also an indication of incorrect gear set up. (though I still get a numb left hand occasionally).

Good to hear the Omark is up and running, though interested in how the rear sight was canting, was the sight block the fault or the elevation post?

sight block...it has 2 allen screws to hold it on and a grub screw under them to give cant adjustment.
the front sight block has a small chip in the middle, right side where the mounting screws hold it on.
changing the sight to the same size but mounted with a screw on the reverse side fixed that.

my wrist : ganglion cyst.can get painfull.pain can be a bit of a distraction.i might let the sling out a notch just the same.
