I wouldn't say halogen lights were shit - when the bulbs go for example, they are cheap and easy to replace.
And they do light up the road after all....

I never said they were shit, just dated. I'm happier with hid lights than I was with halogens. His light up cattle much better which is important on a property with a few thousand head, and the majority of my work is at night.
As fen said, halogens are cheap and easy to fix, hid not so much, but I'll put up with that for less draw & more output.
