I too enjoy a sport of bunny busting with Pneumatics. Lawsie and I both use NV and PCPs for our night adventures and we've been cross checking notes for a while. I'm not as lucky as he, in that I don't have access to plague proportion populations of rabbits. That makes it more challenging. Not game to try my NV gear on the springers just in case it gets shaken to death. You Airarm shooters are just gunna have to spill the beans on some of the stuff you blokes are using
To make it even more fun. I just use your everyday spring driven rifles. The blue laminate HW97K below is a 0.177 12 FPE unit and the wood stocked rifle is a HW97K in 22 cal at around 13 FPE. These rabbits are from my permission in the Mansfield area.
For me, shooting accurately is the key to good hunting. Pellets become too unstable and thus not accurate at higher than 900 fps. All the bunnies were secured at between 10 - 55 m and head shot. Great practice for my FT and vice versa.
The challenge now, is for me to get a mount from Greg Lundy (if he ever returns my call) of Ballistics Enterprise for my Sheridan Blue Streak 0.20 (1968) and bunny bust with it.
