Last weekend I prepped some more brass for the .222Rem (Bergara Scout), when I tested a few loads of the 40g Sierra this was the most promising load (22.0g 22027 and set 20 thou off lands):
It was showing promise and velocity was in 3500fps range so all good there, I also feel there may have been a little shooter error there
Since I've shot those groups I've got a proper rear bag which certainly seems to make life easier when testing stuff, so may iron out some of the operator error (the little scout being the rifle in question shoots pretty damn well and the trigger while not overly heavy certainly isn't the best on the planet)
Been considering my options, these being:
a) load em up and shoot stuff and maybe throw another group down range sometime when I get around to it
b) load up some more and test a few different seating depths, say 4 at 20 thou off (current load), 4 at 30 thou, 4 at 40 thou
The previous Nosler load I used was about 90thou off lands (Nosler data) and shot real nice, so was thinking the jump might help these too?
How much difference is 20 thou in COAL likely to make in velocity/pressure, am I chasing my tail?
Cheers,
Waldo
