Silhouetts with .20cal R1.

Post by native hunter »

G'day All
I was down at Grafton last weekend with Ant havin a crack at some sillywets with the R1 and was suprised to see it knocks the 25mtr chickens over with a fair whack but fails to knock over the 50 mtr pigs.
You can see the pigs jolting but just does not have enough energy to flatten them.
I was using FTS pellets.
Good fun watching them metal farm animals fall.!!!
I think the plate was around 12mm.
Anyone else had a crack at the farmyard with an AR.
Regards

Damien,
Are they AR silhouettes?
It should still have 10FP plus at 50M with FTS.
How is velocity?

G"day Lewis
I think they are designed for rimfire use, hence they were fairly thick and heavy and had a slight forward lean on them.
I have not put the R1 over the chrony yet but will get round to it.
On the same day I shot some groups with it again and it is shooting very nicely.
Dont worry yourself, It is performing well.
Regards
Damien webb.
PS I would not like to be a feral bird or head shot bunny at 50 mtrs.

Air rifle Targets are made from 3mm mild steel and are placed at 20, 30,36 and 45 yards or in meters 18.3,27.4,32,9 and 41.13m

Rimfire are from 6mm thick and go 40m 60m 77m and 100m

The distances you mention 25m - 50 m are for PISTOL SILHOUETTE RANGES
Correct distances for Air Rifle Silhouette ** note Yards not metric **
Chickens 20 yards
Pigs 30 yards
Turkeys 36 yards
Rams 45 yards
Chickens are 5mm and all others are 3mm.
5mm Chickens are to cope with the "GAS GUNS" wear 'n 'tear
If targets are required I can suppy A4 copies by email if needed

(please mention shooting or Silhouette to bypass filter)

The sillhouettes were indeed for rimfire and are at rimfire range as Chris pointed out. Damien shot extremely well with the R1 and didn't go too badly with the powder burner either.

Ant

PS I didn't mention the R9 'cause Damien whipped me well and truly

Morten
We shoot air rifle officially every third Sunday with BR30, but because I'm the president of the Smallbore Club and the captain is also mad keen on AR we always run some type of AR event every Sunday be it sillhouette, target or just plinking. As long as there are pellets going down the range we are happy. Damien will confirm this. Two rules be safe and have fun.

This Sunday is pistols in the morning and smallbore in the afternoon

AG Metallic Silhouettes are great fun!!! I'd do it more but I work a lot of weekends and it makes it a bit hard. But get out there and try it!
