Nice work James, that looks very nice. I would prefer the handle to go further along the tang right up the where the grind starts, but that's just me. Good one.

Thanks guys, While it isn't perfect by any means I think it is better that the last which is all I want out of this. The stainless pins one the black one are much smoother and inline with the rest of the handle than the 1st one. There are still a few scratches in the steel in the handle area that I assume are from the initial shaping on the belt sander using 80grit belt. I think on the next one I will swap to a 120grit belt for the rough shaping. I also need to re polish the blade on the black one - it is a bit patchy/inconsistent. Other than that I am stoked how it has turned out.
I will sell the black one once I have made a sheath for it so no blood on that one but hopefully be able to skin a fox or 2 this Easter weekend with the other.

Still going with this, been flat out with work then away for the long weekend in bigfellascotts country - was awesome weather too with some much needed rain although the day we after we left it snowed which is the 2nd time that's happened. Didn't skin any game with the knife - only use it got was to cut the tags out of a dead ewe - which it did a stella job - sharp enough that I didn't have to touch the ears

shot 5 confirmed foxes with another couple we couldn't find bodies (or didn't look) we all love pics and this in the only one I took - bunny hit with the 223 at about 30 yards and did a nice double back flip that had the crew giggling like school girls

I have been purchasing a few leather making supplies recently and starting on my first sheath. Decided I would do the wood handled one first. made up a cardboard template, measured, marked and cut the leather then folded it round the knife - oh fark - I cut it out arse about and would turn out as a cack handed sheath. Wonder how many times I will do that.

All was not lost as the black handle one is a much smaller slimmer knife and needs a smaller sheath and I could cut it out of the arse about piece I already cut so all is not lost

Sheath will be black with black stitching and I might even try to put in a pig skin (beige/tan) liner

That is as far as I got last night

Been plugging away at this and really enjoying the leather work side of things. The first and 2nd knives and sheaths are finished and the 3rd knife and sheath will be finished this weekend hopefully. Not many progress pics - they are off floating around in internet world somewhere.
Brown/chocolate sheath for the wood handled knife. Stitched with white thread to match the white spacers on the handle

Start of the 3rd Sheath, going to try something special with this one - never seen it before (could very well be a reason for that)

both dyed with fiebing's pro oil dye. The pig skin liner is un-dyed/natural

were they peened or just filed over ?

Epoxied in then filed.

Here is sheath No.3 almost finished
Black veg tan leather with natural pig skin liner and black stitching

Part of the welt made using black and red acrylic to match the handle

What do you reckon they are worth/what would you pay for them?

Is anyone locally (aka Australia) making tactical tomahawks? Note I'm using the term 'tactical' somewhat loosely?

Something like this, but with a more quality hand crafted finish, no paracord handles and less of the zombie/viking/warrior....
