New 22-250 Bang stick.

Cheers Croaky,....I may have to start reloading. I reload for my .260 cos the price for 20 rounds is around $100 plus factories were hopeless with average group sizes or 1.25" and that was from an exactly same rifle as my 22-250. Now I get around .20-.30" for 3 at 100 with my reloads...it seems like it hasnt stopped blowing for 3 years but it does sharpen your wind estimation skills. No problem mate , still plenty more to come.

Shit you cop some wind down there, must make varminting a challenge. I have owned a 22/250
for over 40 years and only shot reloads which in mine allways went best at near full throttle.

Can I just ask why you chose the Sako over say a Winchester, Browning,Howa or Kimber for example.

Cheers mate.....yes they are a good looking rifle, I like sakos because you can be pretty certain that they will shoot well straight from the box .
Ive had a life time of buying other brands (particularly American) that need work done on them before they start to perform.
Theres bugger all decent Gunsmiths here in SA (except for Jerome) and I don't have the time to fart arse around .
Also I just like the look of them , and they are well made and finished (particularly the pre 75 models ) even though their quality control has lapsed a bit recently.

Well that is a lovely looking rifle.

Can I just ask why you chose the Sako over say a Winchester, Browning,Howa or Kimber for example.

I think I may be forced to Trev cos the ammo situation looks pretty grim.....but I do put every factory round through the concentricity guage . I normally use the rounds with 0-1 thou run out to test accuracy.

Cheers mate...the trick with factories is to group them according to the amount of run out they have. I have a a Hornady concentricity gauge and I will buy 200 rounds at a time then put them all through the gauge and group them according to the amount of run out.
0-1thou for rifle and ammo testing.....1-2thou for the long range bunny popping.....2-3 thou for bunnies up to 300yds and 3-whatever in the reject box for blowing up . crap at short range.
Its true what Nick Harvey says that a lot of factory ammo these days is as good and in some cases better than handloads.

Yeah mate , cant wait to pop some bunnies...BUT, they tell me there is a chronic shortage of ammo at the moment, Feds, Wins and Hornady might have to start hand loading for it.

I love the 22/250 and yours is working well.

SA.....22-250 hornady Superformance is back on the shelf in Melbourne picking up few boxes this afternoon haven't been able to get any for a couple of months
