The .223 wissum would certainly be a bit different and probably a real hoot to shoot (and the bloody cases don't have thick necks I believe?)

Good point Waldo.
Probably go down the 5.6x57 track instead of my earlier cartridge choice.
Just hate easy projects.

It's a credit to you,not giving up and All on the 5.6.
I probably would have put the rifle way ,way ,way up the back of the safe.

Taking my 75 magazine in to work to play with 222 mag and 204 loaded rounds .

Its loud and obnoxious it eats powder like there's no tomorrow...you need to consider putting $2 into a jar for each shot to pay for barrels and the muzzle flash at night can be impressive.
My son reckons it exploderates bunnies and cats.

With a slight mod that can refer to my 45/70, just after I got the 45/70 the young bloke and I did a late afternoon sit/wait till dark. Got back to the ute and he urged me (didn't take much) to put a shot thru it in the dark. WOW all I saw was huge flash, the young fella just laughed his guts out, said it was awesome

Yeh and you can't put a price on fun, life is short may as well go all the way

Bought two barrels off him in January just before things really tightened up for me .
Getting someone close to me to screw and chamber it.

5.6x58, just one millimetre longer than 5.6x57.

Going with Missed's fav, The 223 Remington.
I couldn't find enough velocity evidence to go 222mag over 223.
Simple,have the following..
Redding S type dies.Micro comp seater.
250 Lapua in old style cardboard box unprimed brass as well as 150 used.
200 odds and sods that I can donate to the paddock if need be.
1000 50 grain # 1330
2000 55 grain #1365
1000 55'grain Speer sp.
Went down the 1/8 twist path for more explosiveness with a tikka ,couldn't really notice any real better performance over 1/12 twist.I do know I lost up 180fps.
Hoping the 1/14 Maddco gives me a bit more velocity with the build,time will tell.

Maddco only make the 22cal barrels in 1/10' and 1/14.
You've met me ,I like being a bit different.

In the old days,back in late 70s I shot 50 and 55s in the Sako 222.
Off memory I think I stocked the 50s along with 20.5 of AR2201 and 20 grains with the 55s
Had no trouble getting the 55s to stabilise in a 1/14 twist.lead tips,none of this plastic stuff.
Will be interesting how quick I can send the blighters.
