Heavy chamfer - yes
Annealed before sizing - yes

I did have some loaded ready to test then I started to think if I was getting variation in the depth of that ring I'd also get variation in coal.

Probably over thinking it a bit, this thing has been a problem child but I've learnt a lot:-)

Good thing I got the rifle for nothing.
Oh yeh, neck turning sounds a bit complicated for my simple skills.

Nah ... neck turning is easy ... buy the tool .set it and spin away.
It will help with your neck consistency and seating pressure.
All else fails I can loan you mine.

Try one of these if you are going to keep running wildcats.

On doing some more thinking on the matter... is this fireformed brass or virgin brass with the bullets pulled?
Given the weight variations yo discussed who knows re the quality of manufacture.
Fireforming just might fix your issue.

Hey BT, it was virgin brass that had been annealed and run thru the FLS die.

I'll throw some lead down range tomorrow and see how it goes, if I get it grouping half decent with one of my loaded options I'll load up a batch and leave it at that for the time being.

Looking forward to doing more hunting and less development, I'll be glad to see the end of summer.

Id be putting cheap bullets in there and fire forming.
If I rub my crystal ball hard enough I forsee your problems going away when you reload the next time.

I have 2 x distinct lots of brass, the B&T's I've only tried in the new virgin brass. After I burn thru a few tomorrow I'll try a loading a couple in some fire formed brass from both brass lots and see what happens.

That said pretty sure the Amax was still marking with the old seater in once fired brass?

Well the development journey of the 5.6x57 is come to an end.
Had a range session this morning with the 5.6 and 222 rem.
It looks like we have a clear winner of 37.8g behind the Amax.
The first 3 shots are cold clean barrel with the amax with slight ring, the next 3 were 37.8g with the amax seated with the new stem.

That'll do.
I'll throw up some more pics later, shooting skeet this arvo

Here's the best of the Sierra 69g"ers. Still pretty decent and showing plenty of potential.

Possibly allowing for a little human error could be pretty good with some fine tuning.

Just been stooging around on the net and stumbled across where someone has done this with a hot melt glue gun, makes perfect sense in a way because if you change pills again or it doesn't quite work out heat the sucker up and get the glue back out. For the sake of a cheap glue gun I may give this a trot, almost sounds too easy. When I had a look at the seater stem I was amazed at how little the pill goes into the stem, not really what I imagined but you get that
