been to the range.
first trip back to the range today.
i have a heap of 82 branded 7.62 nato,so i used that ammo.
ended up having quite a few clickers on the first string.
never knowing if it would go bang or not.
luckily it all seems to be primer faults,so i can simply replace them.[single flash hole]
second string went a little better, only two rounds went click.
i was using the clubs rifle with peep sites.[omark 308]
i havent been on the mound for nearly nine yrs,so i wasnt surprised at a low score.
wind was between 4 and 18 mph right to left and away, gusting now and then.
a little bit hard to keep track of.
distance was 600yrds.
had a ball.
the club pres shoots the same [fullbore] and his score was 94/4
so for me...getting a 71 wasnt bad.[not great but not bad]
same distance again next week,so heres hoping i improve [alot]
regards
sean.

I do not Know how the scoring works but that doesn`t look too bad to me and I can imagine the missfires would be hard on the concentration

Re: been to the range.
There is a fair chance the misfires are caused by a weakened firing pin strike.Either weak striker spring, binding spring in the bolt body or fouling in the bolt body.Pleased to see you having fun.

loads of it flash,i love shootin shit.
doesnt matter if its vermin or paper,i just love it.
missed : bullseye are a 6,then it drops the further out you go.
if i was still shootin 303 there would have been a few misses in the mix.

Re: been to the range.
Finally got my new scope for the Omark set up yesterday bloke that I got it from gave me some ammo all shot fine but most had to be knocked out with a cleaning rod. Thankfully the next lot of cases I loaded during the week all extracted fine, she is an oldie already on her 3rd barrel, and it likes the new ogive bjds projectiles over the old shape. Shot a .6 group off the back of the ute with a rest that is way too narrow and on a lean, pretty happy bout that, will compete next Saturday at 900 for the first time with it, will let you know how I go.

Sean,
Great to hear your having fun, I too shoot "off the elbows with a sling", but with a CG Inch action with a TMac rear and Adjustable elevation fore sight.
However shooters on the mound is what matters, from either discipline the "traditionalist or the dark side".
Hope to see you on the mound some time.
Mick

Re: been to the range.
The good thing about you using peep sights is you get a bigger scoreing zone i was shooting it with a bog standard t3 had fun but scores were in the target rifle grade
