New 22Mag (9422M)
Not quite new, but new to me. It belonged to my wifes Uncle who got it off his uncle. I'm not sure of it's age but he did give me some ammo that had the date written on it which was 1976! Older than me!
I'm really looking forward to getting this old girl out for a shot.

Slick mate, I always wanted one of the XTR's when I did buy a magnum in the mid 80's I flipped and bought a Krico, still have and still love it........but I do a soft spot for a nice clean lever, look after it.

Nice rifle, looks like it was very well looked after and from the photo not a mark on it, congrats.

Re: New 22Mag
Well there's a slight bit of pitting just in front of the chamber. The rest of the barrel looks ok though! The exterior is excellent considering it's age!
The 3-9 Bushnell has to go! Maybe a leupy 2-7 would work well. I've got a heap of stuff that needs testing but I think this one is going to the top of the list!

Start looking at the ballistics charts Lowndsie, and you'll find yourself a sweet sport to zero to. I use 80 yards for CLAS silhouette, as it's then never more than an inch high or low out to 100, and I just hold off a little to adjust. Enjoy yourself! They're great fun!lowndsie wrote:We............ I've got a heap of stuff that needs testing but I think this one is going to the top of the list!

Re: New 22Mag
That's a pretty good example for its age mate, someone sure must have looked after it. I personally don't like scopes on lever guns, it sort of makes them look top heavy, but saying that, I had a scope on my old Marlin 444 years ago, great for shooting out to around the 200 mark. Cant see the open sights on the buggers these days with the way my eyes are.

Yeah I agree with you about the scopes on levers. They do look out of place. Unfortunately I suck at open sights!! Although they'd probably be an improvement over the Bushnell on this one.
