Here you go Carl. It might not be absolutely spot on because I have taken a little punt on the BS of those Beeman FTS .177 pellets and I am not absolutely sure the 8.9 gr is correct but if you weighed them it is good enough for me...


Zeroed at 38 yards you should be also zeroed at 12 yards and the apex should be at 24 to 27 yards. You should be inside +/- 3/4" between 6 yards and 43 yards. Give it a bash and see what happens. If you hold half way up a bunny's ears at 50 yards you should get him in the noggin..



I'm a bit worried about the scope actually touching the barrel though

Help me out David... where do I look for it? I know I have found it once ...... I only use my own BCs from my tests but can compare with Chairgun's for them if I can find it.

In Chairgun, you just place your cursor over the trajectory at any distance and it tells you a bunch of info, including energy... apparently my R9 (tuned) has about 10 joules at 50 metres with a .177 FTS

According to his data, the pellet would still have in the order of 7.5 fpe at 50 yards. A clean head shot will slaughter a bunny with that energy. However as with all shooting the pellet has to hit the spot and I figure no more than a 1 1/4 inch circle for that pellet at that range. Very good conditions, a rangefinder or the warren pegged for range and a careful shot will do it.
But you are right, caution and self discipline are always to be applied. It is not the pellet energy and momentum here but the accuracy that matters.

hi guys....sorry haven't been paying attention recently....the barra are biting....YAYYYY

anyway got around to utilising the info yrrah (many thanks sorry i have been slack)

unfortunately it has been very blowy and gusty for a while and wasn't satisfied that i had the gun zeroed correctly at 38 yrds...so ibrought into 12 yds and was getting one hole groups mostly on the bullseye big yay...

anyway the barra kept biting and it was today that i have picked up my gun and had a few shots and wanted to test my zero at 28 yrds

and it is very close indeed to what yrrah predicted. even in the gusty (5 - 20 knots) and unpredictable wind direction i was happy with the results

here is the target i just shot....numbered in order of shooting...

1 & 2 over when aimed at bulleyes

3 & 4 closing in

and the rest aiming about 1/2 inch below bullseye

7 shots per group with only one real oops.....
