Spent some quality time in the shed, put together 5 each of 37-8, 38-0 & 38-2.


I won't bother with chrono this time as I have enough velocity to do some damage, once I settle on a load I'll test it then.
Was kinda curious what .2g of powder looked like, never weighed a small amount before, its not much.

Not a lot of powder to look at but it will make a fair bit of gas in a hurry. It would be interesting to find out the a,not of gas that would produce

Closer to using your fingernail to scratch a bit off the side.
9 shot is about .7 of a grain or therebouts

Don`t know what sort of bullet seater you have,but Hornady has VLD type seater stem for A Max`s.Made a big difference to 208 AMax`s in my 308 Match Rifle.

Maybe a slightly larger expander button on the decapping rod assembly, there by lowering your neck tension. Also maybe a bit more chamfer inside your case mouths.

Yeah either a larger expander button or a larger bushing if your using one. It could be causing accuracy issues- particularly at longer range.

I'll give the extra chamfering a try because it's easier enough to do without chasing up extra bits. I'll see if the BT's or Sierra's do similar when I load up a couple of them too?

Just had a bit of a google last night it appears it can be an issue with the Amax occasionally (also the Nosler AB), slowly slowly putting the bits of the puzzle together

No worries mate. A softer jacket or large hollow cavity under the jacket could do it as well- sierras might be better. Suppose dies wouldnt be all that common in that cal and not the easiest to change around.

Which brand of dies were they? It's not some crimping function coming into play with the seater?
