Yeah true who would want a rifle that just shoots great for under $900 and just works out of the box. It makes me roll my eyes too..
i cant bring myself to shoot a factory right out of the box, the closest to factory form is the 7615 but i have changed the stock. Building them is half the fun, even when they are not custom actions.

Nothing wrong with the Tikka's I've got a 1.8T 223 Varmint, all that i've changed is a lighter trigger spring, has shot a best of an inch in the 300m fly comps.with the 77 CC Noslers.
For what it cost ( just on $1000 ) they cant be beaten.
Plenty of others out there costing 2x wound'nt even come close

Your going to liking the 204

What DMZ said I just picked up a lite 223 1 in 8 and within 12 shot's after running it in had a 60 grain vmax load into 8.81mm for 4 shot's. I have three tikka's now 223 6.5x55 and a 30/06 hell even the 06 with barnes ttsx 180's groups half inch.

Good choice there and Nothing wrong with the factory ammo either. All my brass came from shooting the factory Hornady superformance. My T3 shoots that stuff very well it just works!. you will love it Kieth. I'm hand loading for it now and it's hard to go past BM 8208 behind either the 26's,32's, 35's or 39's..... The 35 grain Bergers are now my firm favourite they shoot ragged one hole, three shot groups at 100 meters and drop redcoats on the spot.

how can you say you can't shoot a straight factory rifle, just picked this up on Sat, 3 single shot's cleaning in between and two 3 shot groups to run in then 4 x 4 round groups, the last group measures a mere 8.81mm or .345 of an inch.

The annoying thing is I have taken the rifle with me almost all week when out in the paddock and have not fired a shot. It's like they know
