examples of " jacko's" 2014 1000yd IBS BR efforts

Post by dg »

as mentioned in the competition portal, Victorian/Corryong IBS competitor Anthony Bending has set a number of new Australian IBS (and outright) 1000yd benchrest records so far this year.

jacko has demonstrated his versatility and consistency at the 2014 SCC at Narromine Dubbo in June and during the Corryong IBS 1000yd BR Club regular club matches.

following, are a few photographs of his 2014 targets and additional pikkies!!!.

note that all HG targets are 10 shots.

for those who may not be aware, IBS record targets are shot blind without any feedback or indication of the shot placement on the target.

competitors rely on skill, experience, educated guesswork etc etc to analyse and interprate existing conditions and the like in trying to determine the required aiming allowances and most appropriate shooting times.

by any comparison his results are genuine "world class" examples of LRBR :D :D :D

I want to do that again some day. Maybe I might learn how to read the wind just a little next time. Or I'll just watch Jacko!

Jacko, you are a bastard. That was an expensive chat we had on the phone today, I just ordered a big HG barrel after hearing you talk about heavy guns. Now for the rest of the gun :( . BTW, what sort of scope riser block is that on your gun?

IBS 1000yd BR Target Dimensions as follows:-

Scoring ring dimensions:

X Ring- The X ring is 3" in diameter.

10 Ring- This ring is 7" in diameter with a 4" white square centralized in it to help with sighting .

9 Ring- measures 13" in diameter.

8 Ring- This scoring ring measures 19" in diameter.

7 Ring- This scoring ring measures 25" in diameter.

6 Ring- This scoring ring measures 31" in diameter.

5 Ring- This scoring ring measures 37" in diameter.

target is printed on square paper around 42"x42" which from 1000yds away seems quite smallish to the naked eye !!

with most calibres a 2.5 to 3 knot wind misread will result in projectiles being moved from the target centre to somewhere off the paper.

unless all shots are on paper, the target (and shooter) have No Group and No Score recorded in the results for that target.

What makes jackos, jeff rogers and tony z efforts even more impressive is the fact that these results are obtained in a ten mimute period not of their choosing. Competition days are seldom ideal confitions, unlike practicing in the best confitions.

I hear this may be a result of Jackos load development consisting of more than "Jam in more powder" lately.
