Lining a gun safe

Took a couple of more photos yesterday as I couldn't find the ones I had taken previously of the progress. I only have to fit the slots for the butts to go into, give it another coat of estapol and fit a new lock. Then Ill start re-doing my other safe.

All the timber was cut to be a very neat fit so the only fasteners I used were 4 panel pins to hold the rails for the top shelf in place, all the rest is a nice neat friction fit. Once the estapol dries it will act like glue anyway.

Hmm I had overlooked this thread but def need to do something with mine. I did the friction fit of some poly pipe wrapped in foam but really needs something on the base and sides to tidy it up.

Very nice work Mark and Wardy, yours is a top Idea with your racks.

I renovated my safe recently and was trying to think of a tidy and efficient way to store more rifles and have them accessible, I reckon this worked well with the staggered depth for the barrel notches:

Thanks Ryan, all I can say is measure heaps of times then cut a couple of mm too long so you can shave tiny bits off at a time. Takes a while, but it is worth it not to have any gaps.

Greg, that's a good idea, wish my safe was a little deeper and I would have done similar to you.

are the crystals you use in the bottom calcium chloride, the brother of sodium chloride(salt), very corrosive!

Most of mine live in gun socks when stored. Helps keep gun on gun rubbing down to a minimum and stops dust settling on the whole thing.

There are a fair few in there, squirreled away in all sorts of places. I keep thinking of doing a modification like Greg has done with his for the main run, still might get it done this summer.
