Nailed it.

A 6in Fat Daddios aluminium cake tin cut off at 32mm deep. It cost $13 from a local cake making specialty store.

Can I ask what power supply you used adam, looks sweet and simple. I think I have all the gear, might even by the wife a new cake tin

I'm running the whole setup on a Jaycar Switch volt, 1A regulated power supply with the different tips.

I just picked an inline power socket I had sitting in the spares bucket and soldered it to the power wire for the PWM.

Before I built the initial prototype I had given some thought to how to set the thing up so it would autoload a handful of cases. Not load it and leave it, but more of a load it and go do something else on the reloading bench whilst it ka-chinks through a dozen cases or so. I had the concept sorted, and had drawn up a design. But I don't have the machine tools at home needed to make such a thing. I explained it to GregT and he added some simplification for ease of manufacture (typical engineer to machinist translations).

Being a sneaky sort of person I left my annealer with GregT for him to have a good look at. Well, he obviously couldn't pass up the challenge and this just in....

Bloody brilliant ! No auto feed was the downfall of all the prototypes on YouTube . So the question is how much are you gunna build them for ? Ausvarmint discount?

I wonder if rimmed cases would work okay.

Ryan, yes you will need two cake tins, the MMJ is just too short to work with the 32mm deep tin, and any shallower won't work with 30/06 length cases (62mm).

If you are only going to anneal cases under 308 size (51mm) then you could cut the tin down to a minimum of 27mm and that should get a MMJ/Fireball case in with enough neck poking out to work.

I have tried a 303 case and it worked fine. Belted magnums also work very well.

The intention is to have an aluminium backing plate and the machined bits available as a kit.

You buy the motor and PWM I linked earlier and it will bolt straight in. Some speaker wire, a little soldering, a 12v plugpack and your gas torch will see you sorted.

Not sure what is going to happen with the Fat Daddios tins, probably easiest to supply them as part of the kit and you just need to slot them (already drilled for holes and parted off at 32mm deep).

I had a bit more of a think about this and I reckon you can get by with just the one tin parted off around 26/27mm deep.

Worst case, the bit that is parted off can be cut up to fit inside the bottom half (cut a slot and squeeze) which then extends the depth of the drum. I did this with mine but found I didn't need it for a case the size of the 375 Cheytac (big mutha case). If a Cheytac can fit into a 32mm drum, then a 30/06 or standard magnum case will fit into a 26mm drum.
