 what, hasn't he learned how to shoot yet.

Reckon you want to stoke a bit more powder in there mate, I run 21gn of 2207 in my 20/222, been to 21,9 with no signs of pressure. In the 223 case I run 2208, might pay to try that as well.

So the groups above are the first three 0.5gn increments of a series of five- the other two increments are those crackers shot and posted earlier this morning.

There does seem to be a pattern where two or thee shots will group reasonably we'll and one will land wide. Interesting to see the highest charge of AR2207 has started to bring them all in a bit. Crackers was saying today that the sound of the shots were noticeably different to other loads - a real crack to them.

All different loads I have shot through this rifle have had no pressure signs, and I reckon trying up to another 0.8gn in 0.2gn increments might be worth trying. (I see Camel has posted along these lines while I have been writing my epistle - must be on the right track if the oracle agrees..)

From memory I think Crackers said the OAL of 2.250" with v-maxes is around 20 thou off the lands, as measured with his Sinclair gauge. Pushing them closer to the lands might be another avenue to try as well.

Straight away I would stick to one type of brass. I cant remember who I sold it to, but if thats the reamer I used to own then its made for rem/winchester brass and anything else wouldnt work very well. That reamer cut 3 chambers for me in 2 different barrels and all of them liked similar loads. I never had much luck with 32gr bullets, but 39gr sierras and 40gr vmax used to sing from my rifles. I used 23.7gr RL10x and the 39gr sierra jumped 40 thou in remington cases and CCI450 primers. Got me around 3750fps from a 24 inch lothar walther 12 twist barrel. I only used those primers because I always have lots of them. I would work the load again with federal golds or BR4's next time, probably around the 24.2gr area would be about right with the cooler primers. 8208 worked well but in the end I always went back to RL10x. Most groups were a cloverleaf in that rifle. Definitely dont have any bedding forward of the recoil lug- let that barrel free float. I hope the action got trued up a little when fitting the aftermarket barrel! Lapping the recoil lugs isnt a hard job to get them bearing even. I cant see quite all the flash marks on the crown but it looks ok. Definitely concentrate on the heavier projectiles with the faster twist barrel. 40gr vmax are great pills. Good luck!
I only just noticed this post, haven't been on in a while! yep Brad sold his reamer to me. I'm running a pacnor 1-11" twist Howa action in a B&C stock. My go to load is 25.1 grains of BM2 pushing hornady 32 zmax in either federal (FC headstamp) or winchester brass. Group sizes are .3 to .4 inch.

5 shots FC brass at 100m

3 shots win brass

Good luck crackers! it is a pretty sweet little round!

thanks for the info Richta

well it got the better of me on Friday I removed the stock off the rifle and start to sand it out in front of the recoil lug. I than put the action back in and I was like what the hal is going on the barrel was seated right down in the stock not floated at  .. the stock has pillers and very light glass job
hmmm only one thing to do get the sand paper out and get into it.. so I have taken more wood out so get nice and floated right up to the action
so im real keen to see how it shoots this time
I have loaded up rem brass rem 7.5br primers re10x at 23.5 / 23.8 /24 x3 each with 39 sbk and 3 at 23.5 with 40 nosler pill

PS . I think mick likes the look of the 39 sbk the cold will get to him and will buy a 20 cal I think

Now Now Craig,
All I said when I picked up some pills for you was "fark they are small" with 3 .22 caliber rifles already I dont think I will be allowed to go down any smaller.

The look on Erica's face was enough when I joked about a 20/222. Allegedly my .222 is HERS!!!!!!!

Mick, with posts like that you are going to run foul of the 20 cal police on here and end up being the first one kicked off.  :mrburns: You will need a 20 and a 17 soon, the word "allowed" just shouldn't come into it.

:poke: Camel,
When I want a mouse calibre/rifle I will by an old Daisy BB gun.

(Do you think that's sufficient to get them going?)

G'day Glen, obviously you missed the humour between Mark and myself.
I havnt "run down" the 20 calibre at all.

I am also assuming you mean my dislike of the 300 WinMag?
I have never run down that chambering either, just mentioned that I personally am not a fan

So I guess EAD!

Anyway this is well off topic. PM me if you would like to discuss it further, happy to give you my mobile number.
