Adam do you sand/bead blast the action and bolt before coating, does it affect the bolt to raceway clearance?

Re: Cerakoted T3
A member here has taken up my Ivy Army offer and I've just finished the first round.
T3 Varmit.
Fluted Barrel.
Tungsten.
No flash. Flash on. Things to do.
* The bolt handle was a tight fit coming out, and simply wouldn't go back in. So a swipe with a file has fixed that, but I need to re-do the bolt handle cerakote.
* The owner wants the flutes done in black. I will take some photos of the flutes with electricians tape in there and discuss with him as IMHO it won't look very good at all.

Re: Cerakoted T3
The action is sandblasted before coating. This keys the surface for the Cerakote to adhere properly.chris.tyne wrote:Adam do you sand/bead blast the action and bolt before coating, does it affect the bolt to raceway clearance?
It does not appear to affect the bolt/raceway clearance on any of the sporting rifles I have done so far.
It MIGHT affect that clearance on a tightly built target action like a Barnard (especially a Barnard as the bolt in them is actually tapered ever so slightly to give best possible lockup).

Re: Cerakoted T3
Looks good Adam!
You don't think the black will look good?
I'd like to have the flutes another colour at least I did like the look of the rem sendero.
Perhaps a darker or lighter grey might go better in the flutes? I just think it's too much tungsten otherwise.
What are your suggestions AV?

Borrow some of Grimo's finger nail polish and do the grooves yourself, that way you can change it to suit what ever hand bag you are using at the time. Failing that Im sure Andrew will have a good selection for you.

Artline will fix it up.
Re: Cerakoted T3
Hey mate, I had a look at it today and I wouldn't do anything, it looks great as it is. Saying that, you really need a decent stock for it!kjd wrote:Looks good Adam!

but that's got nothing to do with cerakote so I'll leave it for another thread in the future.
