Stiller Tac30 22-250AI Build on the go NOW A 243win

Post by Seddo »

Hi guys,

Its been a while since i have posted a topic here so here goes. I had a 7 Twist 22-250AI barrel made for my DTA so i could play with 80 & 90gr projies but the twist has ended up being to fast for the speed in the 22-250. I dropped a Tac30 action, Lilja 30" 8 Twist barrel and McMillan A5 stock with the gunsmith last week so it wont be long. He is usign the same reamer as my last one was done with so i should no issues with the brass.

I dont know why the pic is on its side when i saved it the other way in photobucket.

Here is what they look like with 90gr SMK's next to a Federal factory 22-250.

I'll get some more pis asap.

G'day All,
just remember the 22-250 AI case is VERY similar to the wildcat 22x47 Lapua case in OAL but the parent 6.5x47 case has a small primer, small flash-hole AND relatively little body taper (like a 22-250AI) WITH a 30 degree shoulder and best of all made by Lapua.
Yup I know you can get Lapua 22-250 cases from Lapua but with the 6.5x47 cases, just resize the necks to suit. FWIW, My 6x47 shoots like a 6ppc using 107gn SMK's AND I've got a 22BR shooting Berger 80gn VLDs and its also shooting like a 6ppc.
Anyway you dice it a 224 cal and 80gn bullets out of a fast twist is awesome, especially if the wind it up south of the great dividing ranges.

he didnt word it the way he was thinking it but the small primer pocket and factory formed shape of the 6.5x47l brass is what he is putting forward as advantages of that brass over the 22/250 case

I agree
