Well I didnt know that the 6.5X55AI was getting popular!! What chambering did you use? I have a Tooley FL bushing die and the reamer to suit!
A .292 neck and very tight base chamber.
I started out with an RCBS FL die which they make as one of their standards, and the local gunshop had one in stock at the time. Sent a few fired cases off to redding and got a comp 3 die set made up pretty soon after.

AI,

The Dasher Killer will be a 30br and the 300wm Killer will be 30.06imp. Should be fun shooting the 30br after Kenny let the 30br brigade down at Batemans Bay. Bloody Bat actions cant handle the pressure that a Stolle can so we'll see if the Stolle with a bit more powder can do better then the Bat.

Rinso,

The more victims the better. Beat most of them sometime or another. Cant wait to see if you blokes have improved since the last time I was in Canberra. All the stiff competition moved to Qld.

Ogre,

Shouldn't be that far. Tamworth is 1300kms from Melbourne and Canberra is about half way so shouldn't be more then 7 hours. Sorry forgot you have shit speeding laws in Vic.

Had to have a shit stir boys Jr's been too quiet and you blokes need a rev up.

That is interesting to hear about the BAT action (3 lug is it) not holding to the same pressure as the Stolle. I have read it else where, where the person had to back off their PPC load by a full grain once going to the BAT.

30BR and 30-06AI.... sounds good! S0, the 30BR for the 1000 on Sunday :P

Mick, you happy with the way the swede is performing? Powder? projectile? Load?

Cheers

Malcolm,
Did we ever get our "Aus Varmint" hats done? Malcolm
No mate but I am HOPEFUL that my AusVarmit shirt will be here before the shoot ... hey Keith ... Keith .. come on Keith I know your there ....

steven,
Mate Kenny did alright at Batemans Bay as I recall .. certainly was not shamed ...

All the hot competition might be in Brisbane but you never know who might decide to visit old friends in the ACT either .... by the way will you need any assistance to see past 200m, its been awhile you know.

I think there is a spot vacant on a bench between a left hander with a 338 Lapua and a left hander with a 30-378 should be just the spot to sit you steven.

Me improve ..   ... gotta work out what I am doing first. I might try it with my eyes open this time ..

Dont worry too much AI the 30BR is so slow he can fire his 1000yd group then drive down to the butts and watch the bullets coming in ...

cheers

AI,

Wont be shooting 1000yd event on Sunday. Shooting 2 guns at the Fly to make up for that. My Bat is a DS and Kenny's is an SV. Kenny's is the same as mine when it comes to pressure. About a grain less then the Stolle can handle.

Rinso,

Hope Big Red and Annie O come down but with all the shooting they're doing in QLD I dont think they will. Will be seeing them at Coffs Friday week so will see what there up to.

Yeah Kenny shot ok at Batemans but had some big vertical. My 30br has some freebore where Kenny's hasn't so with the Stolle I should be able to add more powder. Have been testing at 200yds and found a load that shoots flat so will go with that and see what happens at 500m.

kenny,

I have the 300 Win Mag for the targets and a little sling shot for my fellow competitors ... so when he gets home looking sad and covered in little bruises you will know he got too close ....

I am sure you did alright with the 30BR at Batemans Bay ... it IS only a 300m gun after all and the rest was using centrefires..

cheers

tomorrow i will rescheduling my flight home from our annual conference to get into canberra instead of Melbourne on the Friday night. Sorry Ogre, not driving.

Thanks to Shane I will have a go at the 500 fly. Was not going to bother with the 1000 but suppose the only way to see if i can hit the target is to have a shot at it!

I wont have any time to practice since get in on Friday night, but this is my follow up dose to see if the addiction really sets.

So, Rinso, Shane, where are we staying?

In the latest guns mag there is a feature on a rifle in 6.5-284. the picture shows other rounds by comparison. The swede case is obviously smaller but looks like not much capacity difference once AId and it seems the neck is longer for more grip on the projie. Would recoil be any different in a 16lb rifle? is more neck to hold the projie a potential accuracy benefit?

No probs- I got limited driving clearance today from the saw bones.

Hows this- I drive your car up with all your gear- save you taking it to the conferance, on flights, limiting what you take etc- youv'e seen my shit box it wouldn't make it and if it did the seats are so screwed we would be paralysed anyway.

I can then use the excuse- "honey I have to go pick Trev up"

Later
