I'll probably go with the budget Howa action and organise a match grade barrel because that seems like a good entry level way to get into customizing rifles.
Sounds like a good plan.

My first foray was a customised Rem. I will probably never sell it.

I had a full custom BAT comp rifle and a target rifle with the same stock and barrel but to save a few dollars built it on a savage target action.

When it came to selling, the Bat sold for near what it cost me as soon as I mentioned I was thinking about selling it. The savage took ages to sell and I took a bath on the price.

If you ever sell your gun you are selling a second hand howa and will not get back what you put in so make sure you love it!

Yep its a pain having to wait, but the results are more often than now, well worth the time. Anyway you have plenty of time now to get some brass done, etc. U want a handful of 32 grainers to have a go with, just drop me a line and Ill send you down a few. :D

The rifle is actually my old man's. Thanks for the offer Camel but I got the old man quite few different variety of pills for him to try.
Brass wise I'd track down 200 of Sako 22 PPC brass for him and got him a set of Redding bushing dies as well.

These are the ones you need.

The body die is what you need to size down the 220 Russian case.

Comp seater helps too!

From what I can determine, the only difference between the two is the competition seater die. The body die comes standard with both sets, doesn't it?
Don't forget you will need to order the correct size bushing with the "s" type dies.
I didn't know they didn't come standard when I ordered mine and had to wait while I ordered one. Which also cost me extra postage costs. Live and learn.
All part of the journey!

When you order your dies grab a 233 and 234 neck bush.
I trued the necks on my Lapua cases after they were fire
formed.
There will be plenty of info available from the blokes that
have the 20 PPC as they are very enthusiastic about the cal.

Would you use these dies for a 22 PPC but with bigger bushes, is there much difference between 22 PPC and 220 Russian? Figure must be something in it.
