AI we dont shoot Fly twice a month mate.

We have shoots of various styles each month.

This sunday the 12th is a 200m benchrest 5 target shoot, will start about 9.30am and finish about luch time.

Great to meet you two. I dont know about you but my ears are still ringing from that bloody little shooting shed
I was good to see how the BR preformed under competition conditions... well the rifle was good but the fool using it was the biggest problem.
I was thinking the 6.5x47 lapua might be a good choice for 500 fly and a little dabble in F-Class Open it should give a little better performance over the 6br and better barrel life then the 6.5-284. I feel another Omark conversion in the pipeline

I was wondering if anyone has the complete final scores for the centerfire?

Yes mate I hope we see you at a Fly Shoot ...

The 6.5x47L is a good case I am building a 6x47L myself and i think it will hold its own.

That said don't think the 6 BR isnt good enough to start with .. get to the Canberra Pro Cal in Sept and have a look at what everyones doing while you have a shot as well ... all good fun.

NH the report was more about what i learned, not a recount of the events. Keith is either busy or didnt like it. Once he edits out my mistakes he will post it on the articles section on the main site.

I particularly liked the lesson about paralax adjustment. In the past i have only used it to improve the focus and paid minimal attention to paralax error with the crosshairs.

So obvious when its pointed out but it took you attending the shoot and writing up what you learned for me to realise whats going on.

I happen to know you have a 223 with a very nice stock, dont need to be competitive to learn!

I asked for details from the Melb Benchrest club. I'll pass them on if you want to join too though maybe we should go and just watch a shoot and learn a bit first, then again too late for both of us since we've both ordered target rifles

Yeah I think I am going to enjoy the target stuff but also the long range varminting. On the in-laws farm there are a couple of bunny warrens and I am hoping their numbers increase between now and when Shane finishes my rifle.
Then I plan to sit off a fair distance and have a red hot go. The only thing is rabbit numbers need to increase.
I may have to get down to the nursery and buy some carrot seeds to plant in the area! That may help!

At the very least, the crows are in for a hell of a time in the form of a 90 grain Lapua. I am laughing thinking about it.
