Gunsmiths

Post by Greysa »

So I don't really know what section I am supposed to put this question in, however, does anyone know a good gunsmith in the central west area that can inlet a stock for a DBM? I have spoken to Keith Hills and he does not have the required template. I have also left a message with Bob Taylor, and I am waiting on a reply. I don't like my chances with Bob as his message bank states that he has too much work backed up. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Its a bell & carlson synthetic stock with aluminium bedding block, so would need a mill. I don't have a mill, nor do i know how to use one.

I'm assuming you are talking about Tony Small from Nickal Tranditional Gunsmithing, in Armidale. That's a bit far for me, it is 7 and a half hours from Bathurst. I don't know if they require the stock and action or just the stock, so I am not sure if mailing up the stock and bottom metal is an option. I will give Tony a call tomorrow. Are there any good gunsmiths in Sydney?

As far as I was aware Bob had retired with Lithgow Locksmiths effectively taking over his shop and stock etc. Last I spoke to them they said Bob was still gunsmithing (for them or not I'm not sure) so maybe going though them might give you a better chance of finding out what can be done

Send GregT a message.

His CNC Mill has programs for most of the standard DBM kits and they are a no-gap fit once done. It's only a small amount of postage to his workshop and back again.

There is a bloke at Walang on Walang Drive I don't recall his name but he did pretty good work. Darryl or Jeff at Gunsmoke could give you his details. Failing that Peter Van Muers at Pro Cal knows him and has his details as well.

Cheers for all your help fellas. I found out that Barry Smith from The Gunsmiths in Sefton is a member of the pistol club I am with, so I am going to have a talk to him when he comes up next. Also, Rinso, I think you are referring to Clem, I don't know his last name, but I got his number from the blokes at Bullets and Bits in Orange. I plan on talking to Clem as well.

Cheers
