Re: 2015 BUFFATHON - Take 2
Hey guys--------- I'm afraid I've been bitten by the " Buff Bug". I'll see what eventuates.
As for the guys re- the horns---- saw off the last few inches at the tip of the horns -- which should be solid-- and save them for a custom fore end piece on your next custom stock. Ebony used to be the go, but was extremely hard to work with----- now buffalo horn is the go. It polishes up super and is a lot better to work with.
Cheers Malcolm

I will be going with the horns on redgum with a piece of cured skin between them as a covered skull cap. If possible I'm also looking for the spine strip of skin as it is supposed to make a very nice belt.
It might just be me that noticed that BB pointed out that there are scrubbers there too. Now they can have interesting horns, not to mention really nice skins if you are prepared to do the preparation work.
I'll be talking with the local tannery before I depart to see what they are willing to do and how they want to receive.

I don't usually drink beer, I'm more of a scotch guy.... but these colds with some "fruit salad" as Curan calls it are quite tasty

G'Day BB
a very generous offer mate.
I am not sure if there are any spots left for this trip but I would like to come if possible I would likely bring TYB if that was ok
If I was lucky enough to snag a spot I would be driving up in a 100 series Landcruiser (fully kitted for remote area travel) and am happy to share the trip with any who want to jump in and share fuel costs.
Anyway let me know if there is still space for me

Re: 2015 BUFFATHON - Take 2
I'm thinking I could leave my rifle and ammo with you in May. Then fly to Roxby in September and drive up with you. BUT I am also trying to convince Kerriet to Join me in Darwin for a few days after the hunt. If that works it will be a fly up and back. She's a lot better looking than you.Dr G wrote:A bit under 2500kms, you would be most welcome travelling up with me. Will try not to run out of fuel this time

No problem with this though you had better leave some extra ammo just so I can keep it, erm'...... tuned uptrevort wrote:I'm thinking I could leave my rifle and ammo with you in May. Then fly to Roxby in September and drive up with you.
