The young bloke and myself spent the weekend at the NSW state lever action silhouette champs.
Missed the rifle calibre match last weekend but shot both the small bore (22) and pistol calibre events this weekend.
Small bore was Sat and after 80 shots I was tied for 1st in my grade and Mitch was also tied for 1st in his grade. Nerves got the better of me and I showed him exactly how not to shoot a shoot off still not a bad day when you can loose and still come home with a silver medal. Mitch must have been paying attention and shot the best he had all day to win his. His score was also good enough for 3rd junior and to see him jump up a grade.
Today there were no shoot offs in the pistol calibre event, Mitch blitzed it winning his grade by a long way while I managed a 2nd in mine, his score saw him bumped up a grade, was good enough to win junior champion and finish in the top 10 over all.
Not a bad effort considering it is only the second time he has shot the match, the first time being 7 months ago and he hadn't even picked up the rifle since.
So 2 matches for him and he come home with 3 gold, 1 bronze and a state tittle to his name, think its time he started loading the bloody ammo and giving his father a few shooting tips instead of the other way around

Nice efforts by you both, good to see TYB getting his eye in and the whoop ass on target.

Re: Out shot by TYB again
Could be, he came home from the state pistol tittles Oct with a few medals as well, missed going to state this year by 1 position in swimming & 2 in cross country so he would leave me behind in those as well, was only one grading away from a black belt in taekwondo when he went away to boarding school at 12. Good thing we get along well as he can out run, swim and shoot me and would probably give me a touch up if we came to blows Has a few years before he's old enough to drink so at least I can claim I can still out drink himCamel wrote: maybe its a sign of old age catching up mate.

Sounds like you both had a good shoot. Good oh you both.
After my hopeless rifle shoot the week before I would of only been wasting ammo,

.....and what's wrong with that Daisy? I've done worse than spend a weekend wasting ammo.daisy wrote:Sounds like you both had a good shoot. Good oh you both.

Good on both of you. Dad for the support and TYB for his results. Great to see the future of the sport is progressing so well in the youth of today.
It's also a time to reflect when the son beats the dad and you begin to realise they are no longer the young kid you let "sometimes" beat you in whatever to keep them motivated, they are on their way to manhood. Now is the time where dad has to work his butt off to try and win one.

Cant agree more Uncle, one of the proudest days in my life was when my dad said "finally you can outshoot your old man".uncle58 wrote: It's also a time to reflect when the son beats the dad and you begin to realise they are no longer the young kid you let "sometimes" beat you in whatever to keep them motivated, they are on their way to manhood.
