Reamer storage

Post by Brad Y »

Hey guys

For those that have their own, how do you store your chamber reamers?

I have two here and just ordered another two and want to know the best method to protect them from rusting. At the moment they have been sprayed down with G96 and put back into the plastic tubes they come in, then put into a waterproof box that has foam lining to protect them from any undesired impact. Assuming this is ok...

I would also throw in a few little sachets of silica gel to soak up any moisture in there

All of my reamers are coated in Pirtek lanolin spray. In fact, all of my cutting tools are. No rust to speak of.

I'm with Kickin, just spray them with a lanolin/parrafin type spray, Lanotec or something similar. They wind up with a wax coating all over them. Just put them in the original container in the cupboard.
